Rediscovering the attitude and humour that powered their debut album 'Over The Counter Culture', The Ordinary Boys look set to release their most successful and ambitious album yet in the shape of 'How To Get Everything You Ever Wanted In 10 Easy Steps'.

With their fortunes miraculously turned around thanks to frontman Preston's stint on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year, The Ordinary Boys found their brand of ska-flavoured lad-rock catapulted to the dizzy heights of the charts. Heavily influenced by the tabloid exploits of Preston and Chantelle and the band's whirlwind reversal of fame, 'How To Get Everything You Ever Wanted In 10 Easy Steps' also finds the band experimenting with new sounds, thanks to the introduction of fairly unknown producer/ DJ Plastic Man.

Tracklisting

1. Introducing The Brand

2. Lonely At The Top

3. The Great Big Rip Off

11. We've Got The Best Job Ever

On first listen it's A LOT better than the let down that was Brassbound personally, has some great songs on it but they all sounded much better live though.

I thought that 'Brassbound,' was good but not as instant as this album or the debut. :D

It's a really strong album even though it seems a slightly short one at that, my current favourite tracks are -

The Great Big Rip-Off

The Higher The Highs

Shut Your Mouth

We've Got The Best Job Ever

Walking On The Faultlines (The Ultimate Step)

I can honestly say that I rate all of the tracks on it highly though. :D

Brassbound $h!ts all over this. Most of this is filler, Club Chez Moi and Great Big Rip Off are the only ones that are amazing. Sell outs..
I don't see how 'Brassbound,' $h!ts all over this when it is more to the sound of 'Over The Counter Culture,' which is more of their original sound despite this album maybe being more computerised.

Wtf it's nothing like OTCC :/

Tracks such as 'The Great Big Rip-Off,' and 'The Higher The Highs,' are imo and TOB set out to make this album more like OTCC.

Preston has said that he thinks 'Brassbound,' was a bit boring and he thinks of this as the real follow-up to 'OTCC.'

Personally I like 'Brassbound,' too but I suppose it's a matter of opinion.

I also hope it manages to make top 10 by the end of the week but if it doesn't there are some really strong tracks on the album which with a release could send it soaring into the upper limits of the chart.

OTCC was an absolute masterpiece, every track is brilliant and that combined with their live shows made them my favourite band (considering The Libertines had basically f*cked it all up at the same time) in comparison Brassbound was disappointing really.. it has Boys Will Be Boys, Life Will Be The Death Of Me and On An Island and that was about it! The likes of Call To Arms and Don't Live Too Fast are completely dull and very 5/6 out of 10 :( I honestly thought they came back a little too quickly (was released just about a year or maybe not even that after OTCC) meanwhile they've ALL really worked hard on this record and taken a big risk with a slight new direction and it was always going to get a mixed reaction from the 'originals' and people are always going to point the finger at Preston when it was a decision the WHOLE band made, it's a shame some people have to turn into dickheads and not like them because they've gone into a new direction and they've more popular -_- I also hate bands who sound EXACTLY the same forever  I talked to Will and Simon personally about this and they were just as excited and had just as much input as Preston (remember he co-writes the songs) and as someone who's supported and met them before they'd released a single I like this album a lot and the only track I absolutely HATE from it is the cheesefest 'I Luv U' :puke2: Club Chez-Moi and The Great Big Rip Off should hopefully be the next singles respectively :D As for the army it's seems to be split in two as far who likes and doesn't like (some are just saying they don't because they think should rather than their personal opinion  ) they can not like it if they want but they don't have to be w*nkers about it.

But after plenty of listens the boys have produced another brilliant album imo and the army shall march once again at their next tour. :cheer:

Grandwicky you make a valid point about the fans that presume they're 'sell outs,' just because Preston went on Big Brother. Chances are if it wasn't for that The Ordinary Boys would exist no more as a band or right now they would be releasing a MOR Coldplay-alike album. It baffles me as such to see people not wanting sucess for their favourite artists, the same happened when Green Day released 'American Idiot,' and they recieved many new fans who only knew that album alone. At the end of the day it's supposed to be about the music and not how they got their fans or how sucessful they are.

Well considering they got dropped by the distributor (Warner Bros.) last November they probably wouldn't exist :( Then of course they got a new deal being distributed by Polydor while B-Unique were still their record company. I wasn't pleased myself at first with him being in BB but without it I probably wouldn't even be able to see them the last three times as they probably wouldn't have even been able to play them. As I said on MSN to you Green Day already had a commercially successful album ten years before Amercian Idiot and weren't exactly obscure so I have no idea how they could 'sell out' I hate that word and it doesn't exist in my musical vocabulary btw -_-

Everyone takes a risk when they go in a new direction and TOB did what any other band might do, considering the news lately in the Arctics forum they'll probably be a few people pissed off at their next album  That won't be selling out but it's going in a new direction which is still close to my point. ;)

Personally I don't use the word sell-out much either but that is quoting other fans of the band.

I agree that many probably won't be happy with Arctic follow-up for the pure fact that 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not,' was a great debut and it would be hard to make a follow-up as great (but I have faith in the next album personally) and then there will be others who will just not like their new direction/same direction depending on whatever it may be. However, Arctic Monkeys have always had a majority of people who hate them because of their sucess as it is so there's not much of a difference there.

well preston has said that he wants this to be seen as a pop album (in the traditoon of devo, adam ant and fun boy three rather than Us5, Upper Street and 365  ), and maybe this should be listed next to Lily Allen???

but as shes a girl and they are not. obv. youknowhatimean

I hope it does well i'm quite fond of Lonely At The Top. ^_^

Imo it HAS to be 'Club Chez-Moi' could be a clever thing to do to release that in January/February as it should help the album a lot. :D
