February 23, 20196 yr Still following this and enjoying it!! Glad it's back! Shame to see "Blackbird" go so soon. To be honest I wasn't sold on it - until I saw it in the semi final where I found it captivating. I forgot that Croatian entry existed, was it really only last year?? Same with Malta last year! Completely agree on both accounts. Actually surprised these are higher than some entries you've given more praising comments to. I also feel Andy Abraham was a little underrated - completely agree with everything you said about it. It was dated, tbf, but at least it was catchy. It suffered mostly I'd think from being on 2nd (I think) and being dated, and we weren't exactly having our most successful period (which still hasn't ended) - still way better than Josh Dubovie though  ALSO agree re: Jade! I think the main reasons this performed so well were that the performance of it was professional, and featured Andrew Lloyd-Webber. I think Europe actually had some respect for us for once. Same when we sent Blue. Our 2 best placing entries since we finished 3rd. Molly deserved better, though!!! I think I like Flor-de-Lis, forgotten how it goes though...!
February 25, 20196 yr Author Thank you for your feedback Moses, I love reading these always, and of course also thanks to my loyal follower Pavel :* Will be posting the next batch today!
February 26, 20196 yr Author Sorry for what? None of my faves have been eliminated in this one gurl Hahaha, I just wasn't sure how you'd react to me eliminating Tatu. I mean they are one of the biggest pop bands to ever come out of Russia.
February 26, 20196 yr If you haven't noticed I'm not the most pro-Russia person ever to say the least. Also never been a huge fan
February 26, 20196 yr Author So with the elimination of "Gimme" we have now reached the.. TOP 10 of 2002 Croatia / Vesna Pisarović - "Everything I Want" Denmark / Malene Mortensen - "Tell Me Who You Are" Estonia / Sahlene - "Runaway" France / Sandrine François - "Il Faut Du Temps" Greece / Michalis Rakintzis - "S.A.G.A.P.O." Latvia / Marie N - "I Wanna" Malta / Ira Losco - "7th Wonder" Russia / Prime Minister - "Northern Girl" Slovenia / Sestre - "Samo Ljubezen" Sweden / Afro-dite - "Never Let It Go" Six of these made the Top 10 IRL: Host country Estonia, France, Latvia (the winner), Malta (the runner-up), Russia and Sweden. Croatia, Greece and Slovenia were all top 20 but Denmark was indeed the last placing song in the final this year. Who are you rooting for to go furthest out of these songs and which ones are you surprised to see still in the running? 11. Cyprus / One - "Gimme" (467th) 12. Switzerland / Francine Jordi - "Dans Le Jardin De Mon Âme" (479th) 13. Lithuania / Aivaras - "Happy You" (511th) 14. Finland / Laura - "Addicted To You" (524th) 15. Belgium / Sergio & The Ladies - "Sister" (539th) 16. Germany / Corinna May - "I Can't Live Without Music" (569th) 17. Israel / Sarit Hadad - "Light A Candle" (574th) 18. Bosnia & Herzegovina / Maja Tatić - "Na Jastuku Za Dvoje" (591st) 19. Spain / Rosa López - "Europe's Living A Celebration" (606th) 20. Turkey / Buket Bengisu - "Leylaklar Soldu Kalbinde" (609th) 21. Romania / Monica Anghel & Marcel Pavel - "Tell Me Why" (615th) 22. United Kingdom / Jessica Garlick - "Come Back" (623rd) 23. FYR Macedonia / Karolina Goceva - "Od Nas Zavisi" (635th) 24. Austria / Manuel Ortega - "Say A Word" (644th) So far we have lost four of the Top 10 in various spots. Most recently Cyprus lost their sixth placer in eleventh place, which sparked the revelation of this list. Prior to that it had been a while since we lost a top tenner from 2002 but Spain, Romania and especially the UK all fell rather early on in the countdown. Now that both 2001 and 2002 have dropped down to only ten songs, which years are most likely to fall next? It will probably one out of 1999, 2000 and 2003 as they all have thirteen songs remaining. They are obviously at a disadvantage as they have marginally fewer songs than the years that follow, but still the quality of the songs does speak for itself as well. 2005 comes next with twenty songs remaining, followed by 2004 and 2008 with twenty-one songs and then 2007 and 2009 with twenty-two songs. The year with the most contenders left is 2016 which has thirty-five out of their forty-two songs remaining. Coincidentally, the year with the most songs left out of the noughties was exactly ten years prior to that: 2006 with twenty-seven contenders to the crown. February 27, 20196 yr Author I've updated the first page now to include all the songs of the contest based on year and country in the first posts with the eliminated songs listed separately for anyone interested.
February 27, 20196 yr Putnici is in my Top 3 of 1999. I guess I'm all out of luck :( next thing you'll be eliminating Marija Magdalena
February 27, 20196 yr Author next thing you'll be eliminating Marija Magdalena Hahaha. Don't worry, Doris should be safe for a while.
February 27, 20196 yr I actually really like ‘Vertigo' it was definitely good enough for the final, when you consider some of the awful auto qualifiers. (Ditto Silvia Night from that year). Oh and that FusedMarc one was horrific, possibly worse than 'Attention' was?? Edited February 27, 20196 yr by Moses
February 28, 20196 yr Nothing here is really </3 to me but I do have a soft spot for 'Gimme', I must say.
February 28, 20196 yr watch my dance is LOVELY. I'm a sucker for traditional greek melodies so this won me over instantly. despite the quite terrible rap. why did they not do it in greek?? Imagine a bottle of milk that was pooped in then stood in the 30 degrees sun for 45 days. Then you freeze it and make a popsicle. Then you feed this popsicle to someone. Whatever eventually gets out (doesn't matter the orifice) is 'I Do'. Genuinely would be my Top 5 worst Eurovision songs of all-time. Just terrible in every way.
