Wonderful result.

With promotion to come, they could have some more big sales to come.

Platinum is definitely in sight I think, with 4 weeks left before Xmas and then the run up to the tour

Yeah, it was a difficult time to generate sales - especially with no second single (did they even promo New Day?)
Are the odyssey versions of the songs only on the digital version of the album or the physical version too?

From Music Week:

Take That rack up the eighth No.1 album of their career, and their first for exactly four years, as new compilation Odyssey debuts at No.1.

Not just any greatest hits collection, Odyssey features Take That favourites ‘re-imagined with new productions’, interview ‘interludes’ and a trio of new songs. Whatever the mixture, it adds up to a winning formula, as the set dashes to first week sales of 105,721 copies (including 1,765 from sales-equivalent streams and 891 cassettes), the highest for a No.1 artist album since Eminem’s Revival sold 131,622 copies debuting at the summit some 49 weeks ago. It is the highest sale achieved by an artist compilation album (albeit one with some new content) since The Very Best Of Neil Diamond sold 110,214 copies while climbing 8-5 at Christmas 2012.

Odyssey pushes Michael Buble’s new album, Love, down to No.2 on sales of 32,080 copies. Take That’s lead atop the chart, therefore, is 229.55% or 73,641 sales – the biggest gap between the top two on either metric since the chart for 16 October 2017, when Liam Gallagher’s first solo set, As You Were, sold 102,660 copies on its first week, a small matter of 731.25% (90,310) more than Giggs’ Wamp 2 Dem, which debuted at No.2, with 12,350 sales.

I still relate to this as a 9th Number 1 for Take That and 11th Number 1 album for Gary.

Scotland is part of the UK...didn’t realise it charts separately?

Great debuts so far!

The main Official Charts Company site shows the UK singles/albums though with a few extra clicks you can view the Scottish charts - since April 1994.

I'm pleased with German top 20 debut. Netherlands and Italy I'm disappointed in.

Italy especially as it's always been a nation easily in their top 5 outside the UK for success.

I think for the tour outside the UK, it would have been good for them to have seen which countries they are still top 40 in and gone to those nations and really toured them.

Shame you can only view the compilation chart as far back as February 1994 instead of when it started in January 1989. 2003’s compilation chart on the website seems to be broken

I gave in and bought the album and well let's just say uts not an album il have to worry about getting scratched but il give it a few more plays to see if it will connect with me at all.
If they release a version of Odyssey with all the normal versions of the songs, I’ll be all over that

You can make that collection with a Spotify or apple playlist! Hence why they decided to change it up here and there.
