BEST MOVIE COUPLE
7IvjPmN.png

- Baby Driver – Ansel Elgort & Lily James -
- Call Me By Your Name – Armie Hammer & Timothee Chalamet -
- La La Land – Emma Stone & Ryan Gosling -
- The Big Sick – Kumail Nanjiani & Zoe Kazan -
- The Greatest Showman – Zac Efron & Zendaya -
- Wonder – Julia Roberts & Owen Wilson -
- Wonder Woman – Chris Pine & Gal Gadot -

Since this category started last year, its the gift that keep on giving, WHAT A LINEUP *.* Zac & Zendaya had great chemistry in TGS, and I'm listening to Rewrite The Stars atm, maybe that's a sign of things to come in this category. Chris & Gal were incredible together in Wonder Woman, it was fab to see Julia & Owen back on screen for what feels like the first time in years for both, Ansel & Lily slayed together and Armie & Timothee continue to pick up nominations everywhere. My two favourites here though are Kumail & Zoe in The Big Sick who are fabulous and another really inspired nom for the film here and ofc Ryan & Emma who continue to slay when they are together in films and had the best chemistry of 2017. <3

The next award is most underrated movie, do we have f***ed up noms again or has Buzzjack actually been inspired this year?!

MOST UNDERRATED MOVIE
oHWknZt.png

- A Monster Calls -
- Gifted -
- Happy Death Day -
- Hidden Figures -
- Ingrid Goes West -
- Life -
- Wind River -

An inspired line-up this year, yassss buzzjack *.* It looks like we've avoided the most nominated film at the Buzzjack Oscars that won best actress here and that was also a critical success & a box office success winning the award for most underrated this year x I've also seen all these films as well *.* A Monster Calls is definitely one of the most underrated films of 2017 & is a gem, Gifted was a lovely early-year drama that feels forgotten and underrated, Happy Death Day was a horror gem & deserved more than it got, Ingrid Goes West should have been bigger and Life is so underrated, especially by critics. Also scoring noms are Wind River which despite achieving critical acclaim does feel underrated as it feels the film is suffering too much of a hard time as it was produced by The Weinstein Company (and this was a situation where they only picked it up to release it and had nothing to do with the production or filming, I do think Renner would've got an Oscar nom had it not been for the scandal) and Hidden Figures which is probs the only a bit ehh nominee here as it was a massive box office success & critical smash!

A lot of films just missed out, from films that were barely seen to Oscar nominees to Oscar winners to Foreign Language films to blockbusters to superhero films and more

The next award is our 7th best picture nomination, what film is it?!

BEST PICTURE: NOMINEE #7
SoAwChp.png

Our seventh Best Picture nominee is the third superhero film so far to make the Best Pic line-up, how many more are going to make it?! Wonder Woman is definitely my favourite superhero movie of 2017 and it was something I've been waiting for and needing to see for a very long time, the cast slayed and it was a really great film. <3

We will be doing the same thing as last year with two people submitting write-ups for each of the best picture nominations which will be posted during the final results presentation! You can do as many as you want as long as two people haven't taken them! You can either post if you want to write up a film now or if there's still spaces when the voting thread goes up, you can claim the space then!

Wonder Woman Write-Ups: ? and ?

Best Picture Nominees 2017:
1) Thor: Ragnarok
2) La La Land
3) Spider Man: Homecoming
4) The Big Sick
5) Baby Driver
6) Beauty & The Beast
7) Wonder Woman
I predict that if I nominate next year, I will be nominating 3 Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Since all my nominations for it, and there were plenty, were dq'd this year.

BEST ENSEMBLE
0sfxceL.png

- Baby Driver -
- Get Out -
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 -
- Pitch Perfect 3 -
- The Greatest Showman

Ensemble is always a good category here and this continues to slay this year *.* Also every picture above PP3 includes the director messT, and I couldn't find any pics of the full Get Out ensemble together. As with Zac/Zendaya in couple, could we have another music omen as Get Out (by CHVRCHES) just came on shuffle :kink: The cast of Get Out is great, I always love the Pitch Perfect ensemble, The Greatest Showman has one of the strongest casts in ages and Baby Driver's cast also slays <3 Ngl I preferred the GOTG cast in the first film but they were still good together in this film.

Just missing out are Oscar faves CMBYN, Dunkirk, La La Land, actual SAG ensemble nominees Hidden Figures, Moonlight & The Big Sick, blockbusters such as It, Jumanji & Wonder Woman, Get Out, Wonder, and despite being a crap film the cast of Murder On The Orient Express was something else. A lot of films got multiple nominations in this category

The next award is best script, which 5 screenplays have buzzjack deemed the best of 2017?

BEST SCRIPT
wSygTpv.png

- Call Me By Your Name -
- Get Out -
- La La Land -
- Manchester By The Sea -
- The Big Sick

Five real life Oscar nominated films for their screenplays make this category *.* Buzzjack showing that taste & I think this is the first screenplay year in ages with no superhero script! I haven't seen CMBYN but the script is one of the most praised aspects for that film so I'm sure its a deserved nom. Jordan Peele's script of Get Out is fab and is one of the best parts of the film, I absolutely adore the La La Land script and I'm delighted it made it in here, the Oscar-winning script of Manchester By The Sea is great and develops its characters perfectly, and the script of The Big Sick is incredible and is one of the highlights of the film, I'm gutted that was the only Oscar nom it got at the real life Oscars :(

Just missing out is Baby Driver & Wonder scoring another nomination, Oscar winner Manchester By The Sea, thrillers Split & Wind River, Oscar nominee The Disaster Artist. Other films that got nominations ranged from superhero flicks to arthouse faves to comedies to controversial films.

The next award is best director, which 6 directors have buzzjack deemed the best of 2017?

Best Male Lead Performance

Can I do Beauty and the BEast??

Omg YAS!!!

Slaaay Thor with his toxic male hammer and 0 story bolstered by special effects and big booms to make us forget how bad it is!

Just catching up now and I'm surprisingly pleased with the nominees. I know what Buzzjack can be like at times so it's nice to see some fairly inspired nominees (now watch Zendaya and Zac Efron win the supporting categories or something... :drama:)

The CMBYN take-over is very deserved and I'm so chuffed to see it have two nominations in the song category. That's going to be such a tough category to vote in because the music from all three of those films was absolutely brilliant. I think my heart lies with "Mystery of Love" though with potentially "A Lovely Night" just behind.

I have a feeling TGS will slay Best Soundtrack :P
Don't drink. Except Water. But still, CMBYN Is great.

BEST DIRECTOR
VRGnMqw.png

- Baby Driver – Edgar Wright -
- Call Me By Your Name – Luca Guadagnino -
- Dunkirk – Christopher Nolan -
- Get Out – Jordan Peele -
- La La Land – Damien Chazelle -
- Wonder Woman – Patty Jenkins -

I'm pretty sure Wright & Nolan have got noms before but the rest of this category are first time nominees! Not too many surprises here, we have an Oscar winner (Chazelle), two Oscar nominees (Nolan & Peele) and three acclaimed director pieces. Fabulous to see Patty crack this line-up as what she did with Wonder Woman was incredible but ofc Chazelle is my fave here.

Just missing out is Denis Villeneuve missing out on a nomination for Blade Runner 2049 after winning this category last year for Arrival and Andy Mucchesiti for It.

BEST PICTURE: NOMINEE #8
hwrRPGZ.png

Our eighth Best Picture nominee is an actual Oscar best picture nominee, Get Out. GO came out of nowhere at the start of the year to be a critically acclaimed box office smash that is incredibly relevant to our times. I loved this film so I'm glad it made the line-up.
