Praise indeed, Scott.... I'll go see it this coming weekend.

I like it cos it's not a film for kids (despite the 12A cert) like quite a few Bonds in the past have sort of been, unfortunately because of the 12A quite a few actually did turn up, and my enjoyment was marred somewhat by the incessant bloody chatter and moving around behind me.. <_< Doubtless they were getting a bit restless during the 'boring, talky' bits and the fact that it's quite a long film (almost two and a half hours)... It's deffo Bond for grown-ups, as Fleming intended...

I dont think the studio should have edited the torture sequence to get the 12A and just took the 15, which would've prevented these irritating little fukkers from gaining entry to the film... Like I say, it aint a kid's film...

It's an astoundingly bad song... Even within the context of the film it's still c**p.. Deffo the worst Bond theme ever IMO....

Even worse than Die Another Day?! :o I quite like the new bong theme...well I like the bit the play on the Sony advert...the rest is a bit...meh...

With a different chorus and singer (Chris Cornell is awful and this is coming from someone who was a big Soundgarden fan back in the day..) it may have been better...

I hate the idea of no Moneypenny and Q <_< They better bring them back for the next one. I think it's quite a c**p idea to do a film that was made 40 odd years ago...

Who sings the song? I've heard a bit on the advert and it sounds c**p. The Die another day song was good.

Chris Cornell (sp?) sings the Bond Theme tune for Casino Royal. :D

"Casino Royale" has never been done properly.... The film that was made in the 60s bears absolutely no resemblance to Fleming's book in any way whatsoever, shape or form; it uses the title and the character of Bond (with David bloody Niven playing Bond - a WOEFUL piece of miscasting, and Woody Allen playing his mute son, who is also the villain - nope it really makes no sense whatsoever..) as an excuse to make some lame-ass "comedy"... The only thing that's 'c**p' is the fact that they took the good name of James Bond and crafted such a pathetic piece of sh!t in the first place....

This is the first proper attempt at a serious adaption of Fleming's book therefore is NOT a 'c**p idea' at all.... Go and actually see the film and totally eat your words....

Why the hell should they bring back Q anyway..? The real Q is dead and Cleese was truly pathetic when he played the part, and frankly I didn't miss Q in the slightest... And if my memory serves me correctly from my reading of the book, Q doesn't even feature in it anyway.... As for Moneypenny, again, who cares when there's Eva Green taking her place..? I sure as sh!t didn't....

The 60's one was just a spoof.

It's weird though lol.

It attempts to be 'weird' and all 'swinging 60s', but in reality it's just a load of sh!t.... If you want a decent '60s spy spoof - "Man From UNCLE" is your best bet....

This is a really good Jame's Bond film. One of the best in years. Much better that Die Another Day. Daniel Craig is excellent in it.

I thought "Die Another Day" was pretty dreadful... The only decent Brosnan one was "Goldeneye" IMO....

I always thought Tomorrow Never Dies was the best Brosnan Bond. I actually think Goldeneye, TND and World Is Not Enough were all pretty decent films. It's just that Pierce Brosnan made a $h!t Bond.
I agree with previous comments..Pierce Brosman was an awful James Bond but I havent liked any of his bond films.

I thought he was adequate, but Dalton was a lot better... People dont really rate Dalton, but I do, he brought a tougher, more serious edge to Bond, people weren't used to it, being more used to Moore's prancing, slightly foppish dandy; but if you read Fleming's description of Bond in his books; Dalton actually played him literally (maybe slightly too literally..) 'by the book'.... Brosnan was a slightly uncomfortable combination of Moore's foppishness and Dalton's seriousness... Daniel Craig however has taken Fleming's literary descriptions on board, he's doing the ruthlessness and the toughness (the opening pre-credit sequence punctuates this superbly..) , but has actually put some of his own individuality into it and brings fresh ideas in... For my mind Craig is the best Bond since Sean Connery, and in one or two ways is actually even better (his technical skills as an actor are, I feel, superior to Connery's).

Here's how I rank the Bonds...

1. Sean Connery (still the daddy. For now.....)

2. Daniel Craig (give him time to settle, he will be No1....)

3. Timothy Dalton (Under-rated and never really given a fair shake..IMO)

4. Pierce Brosnan (averagely okay..)

5. Roger Moore (too jokey and foppish..)

6. George Lazenby (just hopelessly lost really, which is a bloody shame because otherwise "OHMSS" is one of the best Bond films ever...)

7. David Niven (Just total c**p, and yes, I realise that the 60s "Casino Royale" was a spoof, but come on, so was "Austin Powers"....)

Timothy Dalton is my favourite Bond. Which was the film where someone falls into a meat chopper thingy? That's my fave Bond film. Still not seen Casino Royale though <_<
I'm not a big fan of Bond, I only have a passing interest, but I really want to see this one! I've heard that Daniel Craig is superb, and I'd like to go to see a Bond film at the cinema for the first time. When the last film was out, I rarely went to the cinema, and probably wouldn't have gone had I been offered the chance -_-

7. David Niven (Just total c**p, and yes, I realise that the 60s "Casino Royale" was a spoof, but come on, so was "Austin Powers"....)

Personally I wouldn't count David Niven, it was more of a spoof movie.

Sean Connery is the best in my opinion, Pierce Brosnan could have been better, I still have yet to see the movie, so I past judgement on Daniel Craig at the moment. But I agree in the order you have submitted.

i saw it and i enjoyed it but its not great it had faults, i don't want to say what they are cause it gives the plot away, this is a thuggish bond (think lock stock) when he puts on a tux he looks like a bouncer working outside a club, the film doesn't feel like a james bond film its a better than average thriller, after watching austin powers you can't really take a bond film seriously anymore, there were so many chances to kill bond in this film its laughable he gets away everytime but eva green is a real find!! this woman is classy and beautiful she makes the film!!

I just included Niven for completeness sake more than anything....

Nah, you're wrong mate, Craig's physical presence is in keeping with Connery's in the 60s films (their physiques are more or less the same..), and it's in keeping with Fleming's descriptions in the books - Bond is a tough, physical character. You're just too used to seeing him as a foppish fool as played by Roger Moore or the rather rakish Pierce Brosnan..

But I would agree that Austin Powers has somewhat made it difficult to take a Bond film seriously... Especially the Roger Moore ones, which I just cant watch now without them seeming utterly ludicrous....
