Posted March 27, 20187 yr So I saw an article this morning about how Mary Berry has been criticised for fat-shaming a guest who appeared on her show. Do you think she stepped out of line with her comments or is it just a bit of jest? http://digitalspyuk.cdnds.net/18/13/980x490/landscape-1522105678-mary1.jpg Mary Berry has caused some unexpected controversy on her BBC One series this week. The latest episode of her cookery show Classic Mary Berry celebrated the joys of outdoor food preparation by inviting Michelin-starred chef Nathan Outlaw to join in sharing some of her favourite snack: pickled walnuts. As weird as it sounds, Mez claimed that she prefers pickled walnuts to chocolates. But, it wasn't the walnuts that got her in trouble. Mary was accused of fat-shaming by some viewers for seeming to scoff when Nathan Outlaw mentioned his love of windsurfing, asking him: "You, windsurfing?!" Mary also made a crack about how much force Nathan was exerting as he crushed some garlic. Here are some of the tweets about it: Emily Rose @3mR0se Mary Berry has gone down in my estimations. Just casually fat shamed a chef twice, like just because you’re Mary Berry you don’t get to be rude?! Busybody @composter So, #MaryBerry thinks it’s funny to fat shame the chef when he says he likes surfing. Sophia Payne @Sophsaboteur How rude was #MaryBerry about #NathanOutlaw 's size when he said he surfed! http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/reality-tv/ne...ry-fat-shaming/ This is the guy she was accused of fat-shaming: Edited March 27, 20187 yr by Tombo
March 28, 20187 yr It depends in part on how well the two know each other. If they know each other well, it should be obvious that her comments were a joke. Even if they are only casual acquaintances the comment were clearly meant in jest. He doesn't look like your average windsurfer and he does look like crushing a whole garlic in one hand wouldn't require a lot of effort.
