1975: Netherlands (“Ding-a-dong”) vs. United Kingdom (“Let Me Be The One”)

1976: United Kingdom (“Save Your Kisses For Me”) vs. France (“Un, Deux, Trois”)

1977: France (“L’oiseau et l’enfant”) vs. United Kingdom (“Rock Bottom”)

1986: Belgium (“J’aime La Vie”) vs. Switzerland (“Pas Pour Moi”)

1987: Ireland (“Hold Me Now”) vs. Germany (“Lass die Sonne in dein Herz”) (both kinda shite)

1988: Switzerland (“Ne partez pas sans moi”) vs. United Kingdom (“Go”)

1989: Yugoslavia (“Rock Me”) vs. United Kingdom (“Why Do I Always Get it Wrong?”)

1990: Italy (“Insieme:1992”) vs. France (“White and Black Blues”) vs. Ireland (“Somewhere in Europe”)*

1991: Sweden (“Fångad av en Stormvind”) vs. France (“C’est le dernier qui a parlé qui a raison”)

1997: United Kingdom (“Love Shine a Light”) vs. Ireland (“Mysterious Woman”)

1998: Israel (“Diva”) vs. United Kingdom (“Where Are You?”) (Diva is fab and such an important winner but there's something I *love* about Where Are You)

1999: Sweden (“Take Me To Your Heaven”) vs. Iceland (“All Out Of Luck”)

2000: Denmark (“Fly On The Wings Of Love”) vs. Russia (“Solo”)

2001: Estonia (“Everybody”) vs. Denmark (“Never Ever Let You Go”) (both pretty shite)

2004: Ukraine (“Wild Dances”) vs. Serbia & Montenegro (“Lane Moje”)

2005: Greece (“My Number 1”) vs. Malta (“Angel”)

2006: Finland (“Hard Rock Hallelujah”) vs. Russia (“Never Let You Go”) (not a huge fan of either but Lordi is just noise to me)

2007: Serbia (“Molitva”) vs. Ukraine (“Dancing Lasha Tumbai”) (Molitva is nice and all and Dancing Lasha Tumabi is quintessential Eurovision really!)

2008: Russia (“Believe”) vs. Ukraine (“Shady Lady”) (Believe is fine but Shady Lady is such a banger)

2009: Norway (“Fairytale”) vs. Iceland (“Is It True”) (I do love Fairytale but just about prefer Is It True, what a beauty <3)

2010: Germany (“Satellite”) vs. Turkey (“We Could Be The Same”) (no contest, WCBTS is awful and Satelitte is a bop)

2011: Azerbaijan (“Running Scared”) vs. Italy (“Madness of Love”) (neither should have been anywhere near but at least RS is just average rather than utterly horrific)

2012: Sweden (“Euphoria”) vs. Russia (“Party for Everybody”) (PFE is a bop but ofc Euphoria is the ultimate Eurovision song for me and possibly my all time fave song)

2013: Denmark (“Only Teardrops”) vs. Azerbaijan (“Hold Me”) (I always forget about Hold Me, the pinnacle of Azeri vote buying)

2014: Austria (“Rise Like A Phoenix”) vs. Netherlands (“Calm After The Storm”) (love both but RLAP was SUCH an important winner)

2015: Sweden (“Heroes”) vs. Russia (“Million Voices”) (I like Heroes but don't tend to go back to it whereas Million Voices is still my fave from this contest <3)

2001: Denmark (“Never Ever Let You Go”) [Runner-Up] (Everybody is terrible. Denmark should have taken this)

2002: Latvia (“I Wanna”) [Winner] (Lol I like "I Wanna" actually. Prefer it to 7th wonder)

2003: Turkey (“Everyway That I Can”) [Winner] (Sanomi is great too but ETIC is so good)

2008: Ukraine (“Shady Lady”) [Runner-Up] (Shady Lady is SUCH a banger, how did Russia possibly win?)

2011: Azerbaijan (“Running Scared”) [Winner] (Running Scared is ok but Madness of Love is horrible so this is a default win)

2012: Sweden (“Euphoria”) [Winner] (Euphoria is THE song of Eurovision. Ever. PFE was still super fun)

2013: Denmark (“Only Teardrops”) [Winner] (Lol at Azerbaijan being the main challenger here. Forgot that happened)

2014: Austria (“Rise Like A Phoenix”) [Winner] (Echoing what Liam said again - RLAP is such an important winner, even tho CATS is still really good.)

2015: Sweden (“Heroes”) [Winner] (I liked both, but Heroes I still listen to)

2016: Australia (“Sound of Silence”) [Runner-Up] (DAMI WAS ROBBED :(()

2017: Bulgaria (“Beautiful Mess”) [Runner-Up] (Such an easy choice. BM is great. APD is not)

I like the winners more for the most part but would definitely take the glorious 7th Wonder over the crap I Wanna in 2002 and would narrowly take Selma over Charlotte in 1999, though both are great. I'd never deny Conchita of her rightful win but I far prefer Calm After The Storm and The Common Linnets' debut is easily my favourite Eurovision-related album. The same with Diva really, I prefer Where Are You as a song but I wouldn't want to deny Dana International's win.

1975: Netherlands (“Ding-a-dong”)

1976: United Kingdom (“Save Your Kisses For Me”)

1977: United Kingdom (“Rock Bottom”)

1978: Israel (“A-Ba-Ni-Bi”)

1979: Israel (“Hallelujah”) [god all Israeli winners are fantastic)

1980: Germany (“Theater”)

1981: United Kingdom (“Making Your Mind Up”)

1982: Germany (“Ein Bisschen Frieden”)

1983: Israel (“Hi”)

1984: Sweden (“Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley”)

1985: Norway (“La Det Swinge”)

1986: Belgium (“J’aime La Vie”)

1987: Germany (“Lass die Sonne in dein Herz”)

1988: Switzerland (“Ne partez pas sans moi”)

1989: Yugoslavia (“Rock Me”)

1990: France (“White and Black Blues”)

1991: Sweden (“Fångad av en Stormvind”)

1992: Ireland (“Why Me?”) [both terrible]

1993: United Kingdom (“Better the Devil You Know”)

1994: Poland (“To Nie Ja!”)

1995: Norway (“Nocturne”)

1996: Ireland (“The Voice”) [both really good, the mid-90s new age eurovision was fantastic]

1997: United Kingdom (“Love Shine a Light”)

1998: United Kingdom (“Where Are You?”) [killer choice but I think Imaani is slightly better]

1999: Iceland (“All Out Of Luck”)

2000: Denmark (“Fly On The Wings Of Love”)

2001: Denmark (“Never Ever Let You Go”)

2002: Malta (“7th Wonder”)

2003: Belgium (“Sanomi”) [the ONE time Belgium weren't complete cack they had this beauty]

2004: Ukraine (“Wild Dances”)

2005: Malta (“Angel”) [poor top 2 really but Angel is at least listenable]

2006: Finland (“Hard Rock Hallelujah”)

2007: Ukraine (“Dancing Lasha Tumbai”)

2008: Ukraine (“Shady Lady”)

2009: Norway (“Fairytale”)

2010: Turkey (“We Could Be The Same”) [amazing top 2 but I have to give it to MaNga ever so slightly]

2011: Azerbaijan (“Running Scared”)

2012: Sweden (“Euphoria”)

2013: Denmark (“Only Teardrops”)

2014: Netherlands (“Calm After The Storm”)

2015: Russia (“Million Voices”)

2016: Ukraine (“1944”)

2017: Bulgaria (“Beautiful Mess”) [a poor top 2 and though I'm glad Salvador won in reality because this winning would have been disastrous for letting this sound into Eurovision, it's slightly better than Amar Pelos Dois]

Agree about 1996, The Voice is gorgeous and such an underrated winner for me. Yet Den Vilda and Ooh Aah...Just A Little Bit are both miles and miles better, and I Evighet is lovely too. What a great, high quality year though you've got to laugh at that entire new age sweep of the top three when Gina G had a global smash and all-time pop classic finishing down in 8th...!

1995: Norway (“Nocturne”) vs. Spain (“Vuelve Conmigo”)

1996: Ireland (“The Voice”) vs. Norway (“I Evighet”)

1997: United Kingdom (“Love Shine a Light”) vs. Ireland (“Mysterious Woman”)

2003: Turkey (“Everyway That I Can”) vs. Belgium (“Sanomi”)

2006: Finland (“Hard Rock Hallelujah”) vs. Russia (“Never Let You Go”)

2007: Serbia (“Molitva”) vs. Ukraine (“Dancing Lasha Tumbai”)

2008: Russia (“Believe”) vs. Ukraine (“Shady Lady”)

2009: Norway (“Fairytale”) vs. Iceland (“Is It True?”) (Always is the true winner tho haha)
