And because it is a valid point! She didn't say DECADE. She said MILLENNIUM. The album of the MILLENNIUM. One thousand years. Born This Way was a huge step down, savaged by fans, and she hasn't had a no.1 since it was released ... until this year after YEAAARS of damage control. I saw fans saying they were done with her if the next album was like it. "Another abum like this is not gonna cut it :( " is the comment I remember most. Then came ARTPOp on waves of MORE TOTAL HYPE. It simply does not work as no matter what, the album will not match up to that level of hype!! She needs to let it speak for itself. It's that simple, especially after the lessons BTW and ARTPOP receptiom vs hype have taught her. Even you have to admit what dhe said was way way over the top and turned people off?

 

Judas - performance plus Steps themselves saying it sounds identical. This is Madonna with BTW all over again. People recognise their own sound. These are receipts. You just buried your head in the sand and refused to accept them as proof of purchase because of a tea stain!

It WAS a massive step down. Look at the reviews and then at the fan reviews at that. Look at how big the fall was, how Judas did massive damage. She should have been getting no.1s still at that stage... Judas stopped that. The album was $0.99 cents on promotion. The sales are um INFLATED.

 

Sooo Madonna wasn't right when she heard Express Yourself? The fact that PopJustice fans at the time said it sounded like Steps too, mas the performance, plus Steps recognising THEIR BRAND, just like GaGa did with Bionic, is receipt enough!!!!

First, you shouldn't listen to a salty mixer. I would have voted for GaGa, not created aliases for Touch x

 

Second, Edge of Glory WOULD be a MODERN CLASSIC AND A MASSIVE #1 if it weren't for the Steps-lite cheese of Judas!! The damage that song did was massive. She went from Spice Girls pre-Goodbye big to Forever big in the space of one single.

 

Madonna was RIGHT. Listen to the songs. They are incredibly similar. It trended on twitter before Madonna even said anything. Pop fans who know Steps well and Steps themselves are um a good place to start too when it comes to comparisons!

 

Now what are YOUR receipts because at least I have some! Oh, and please tell me how an album for 0.99 for a whole week wouldn't inflate sales? K thanks.

I am a fan of both and have albums by both x I have also said Witness is atrocious, just as I said the same for ARTPOP, soooo? Like I said allll along: fans should be critical and demand the best! Only that way do we bring out the best! If LG6 is great, I'll say it. And if it's not, I'll say that too.

I’d say Gaga’s in a good position at the moment.

 

In terms of a Gaga solo album I’d say there’s probably more hype amongst the GP since Born This Way tbh.

 

I do think it’s for the best that she doesn’t hype up this album though. With ASIB she did just that and it really worked for her. I can see the point that you meant Monqueef in the overhyping of the records and whilst I’ve never got the steps thing I’d also agree Judas wasn’t a good single choice. But Born This Way did have plenty of strong choices in my opinion. ARTPOP also had strong single choices on the album but they weren’t released.

 

LG6 just needs to make sure that we get a strong selection of singles! Like a lot of people / the GP would love certain tracks from BTW, ARTPOP and even Joanne tbh but the eras are judged more for the singles.

 

Also!!! (I may be in a minority here) but I don’t think BTW and Express Yourself are similar in sound maybe in message but not sound. I hear more similarities between La Isla Bonita and Alejandro personally.

I don’t think Judas stopped it from going to #1 it was more the fact it was a mid week release wasn’t it.

 

I think it is seen as a classic song by her and it’s sold 800K too (Over 600K being pure sales too I think).

 

It could’ve easily at least went top 5 had it got a full week of sales.

 

Gaga’s pretty much always released OA OS. Only Just Dance Really had like a pre order type release didn’t it. She’s never debuted at #1 in the singles chart either in the UK.

 

And was it only released as a promo single at the time too before being upgraded to official single?

 

I remember it returning to the top 10 after it fell out the top 20. It was like a yo yo chart run what stuck around for ages.
