What makes you think that? Kanye literally got 3 songs in the top 20 last week. These ones won't do as well but I expect at least one will make the top 40 if not three.

 

If you're referring to their low Spotify positions, they only had a few hours to get there. Today is their first full day so expect them to jump into the top 50.

As far as I know, Apple Music is utilised more by the 'roadman' demographic... hence UK rap songs do loads better on Apple Music than Spotify (I remember J HUS got to #1 last year and 'No Words' by Dave was #2 last year there)

It's 2018 and we're still acting as if people who enjoy rap music fit one specific stereotype (male/tracksuit-wearing/on benefits), lol. Rap is literally the most popular genre in the world right now, among young people in general.

 

Either way, the reason rap songs are bigger in Apple Music is because, in its first year, Apple went hard after the rap-listening demographic (wise, since it's the biggest one right now, especially in the US) with a bunch of exclusives, including Chance the Rapper and, most notably, Drake.

I like grime music and I don't own a tracksuit, but that audience does make up a large amount of UK rap consumption, it's not a bad thing!

Right now, it is mostly young people who use Spotify, and they listen to younger artists. But as these streamers get older, they will likely still be streaming, but streaming older artists.

In the US the highest charting song is #19 and they'll do worse this side of Atlantic... but we'll see

I think Solo could snatch it this week if they continue their streaming lead over Jess Glynne! I don’t think it will hang around as long as Sympjony tho!

Admittedly I haven't been following the chart much lately, but where on earth did 'Youngblood' come from? It's definitely among their best, but I just figured it was flopping like their last few singles.

 

Oh and Jess Glynne > Solo (if only to extend Glynne's record). 'Solo' was great for a week or so but it hasn't held up as much as their previous singles for me.
