January 12, 20196 yr Aitor Karanka one of the most overrated managers in the game. I find his popularity absolutely baffling. I get that from an outsider point of view we look mad but as a season ticket holder I've been as bored watching us in 2018 as I was in any other year. His football is dire to watch, his transfer and youth policy is appalling, completely inflexible tactically and unable to change games from the bench, either to hold onto a good result or to get back into it. You can tell he's a disciple of Jose Mourinho. He was appointed when we were 14th; one year, almost £30m and 30 new players later we're 4 points above 14th - owners (rightly or wrongly) expected more. Not sure I'd have sacked him (though he wasn't sacked, been on the cards for at least 6 weeks and neither party wanted to remain) because I'd have thought better to let him properly fail. Luckily we got a massive fluke of a win against Leeds on NYD that gives us a chance of top 6 still. It's been widely reported we've changed managers every year since 2011. If I ranked all the managers post-Davies (part 1) he might just make the top half, but that's down to the amount of utter shite that's managed us over the years.
