Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood were both essentially country ballad singers

The best reality tv music series so far has been Rock Star INXS I loved that

Kelly Clarkson is hardly a country singer now is she!

Carrie Underwood I agree with, but she always made it clear that was her niche

I don't mean country in the sense of cowboy hats, boots, yee-ha and line dancing but any non soul orientated ballad in America is considered country, Clarkson on American Idol sang a lot of ballads that were not soul music so I classed her then as country music, example of a country ballad is How Can I Live Without You by Leanna Rimes etc

Just listening to the McDonald brothers now on X Factor and they are DIRE

How the hell do they get through each week ??

I guess given 90% of X Factor voters are 10-15 I can just imagine girls around the country sitting at home thinking "phwoar they are hot  " and spending all their pocket money and phone credits on them  without taking note of their singing talent

I'm so glad I've given up on X-Factor.

Strictly Come Dancing is so much more entertaining & the fact that SCD has increased its viewing figures lead for the third week running over XF3 speaks volumes.

I've seen better singing talent on a regular basis at my local pub every weekend than the McDonald Brothers (I've just watched them on ITV's Sunday repeat of X-Factor) - If they are among the best eight singing talent acts in the country then God help us.

In fact this pair could do a better job:http://www.corrie.net/profiles/characters/mcdonald_andy4.jpghttp://www.corrie.net/profiles/characters/mcdonald_steve2000.jpg

Strictly Come Dancing though is ruined by the fact its has been celebs looking to get back into the public eye whereas X Factor is "real" people

I agree on the whole about the lack of talent but this year we have 2 outstanding singers in Ben and Leona
