It's been since 1997 MJ had a number one single, he had two number twos in the 2000s. The streams are incredible, but no radio airplay, no music video and out of the top 20 on the iTunes chart mean it may be unlikely. Still, it is rare to debut at number one, although Drake has done it before

at least in the UK, theres a fair amount of pop in the top 40

in the US, there is only 1 pop song in the spotify top 40, Maroon 5- Girls like you, but even that has Cardi B

for a pure pop track without any urban acts attached, the highest is Ariana - No tears at #43

Not really a fair competition when (as far as I know) Drake's non-singles aren't on YouTube ;) And before 'God's Plan', nothing he released in 2016 or 2017 was on YT. He's doing even better on Apple Music, with the entire (UK) top 24 bar #9 ('Shotgun') and #16 ('One Kiss') being Drake songs.
