Posted October 29, 200618 yr Scientology is a body of teachings and related techniques developed by American author L. Ron Hubbard over some thirty years beginning in 1952 as a self-help philosophy, an outgrowth of his earlier self-help system, Dianetics. It claims to offer an exact methodology to help humans achieve awareness of their spiritual existence across many lifetimes and, simultaneously, to become more effective in the physical world. The name "Scientology" is also used to refer to the controversial Church of Scientology, the largest organization promoting the practice of Scientology, which is itself part of a network of affiliated corporations that claim ownership and sole authority to disseminate Dianetics and Scientology. There are many high profile members of this religion, but are they genuine or are they on an ago trip. Actors and musicians like Tom Cruise, Kirstie Alley, Anne Archer, Isaac Hayes, Sonny Bono, Beck, Placido Domingo, Chaka Khan, Lisa Marie Presley, Priscilla Presley, John Travolta, Kelly Preston. Other famous people have left it like, Christopher Reeve, Jerry Seinfeld , Sharon Stone ,Van Morrison. What do you think, are you thinking of signing up, or is it Jedi Knight for you.
October 30, 200618 yr Well religions are mumbo jumbo if you ask me, but scientology is one of the most ridiculous. It seems everyone in Hollywood follows some wacko cult or another. Perhaps it's how they deal with the "fame". Or maybe Hollywood just attracts weirdos.
October 30, 200618 yr I don't think it's a religion but a philosophy - although I'm unsure. And what defines the difference I can't quite recall at the moment. Buddism however is not a religion, although it's invaribly incorrectly referred to as such.
October 30, 200618 yr To me it´s just a bunch of people who got disapointed with the traditional religions of their families and now are desperate to find another type of spirituality, seeing UFOs, aliens, ghosts everywhere. I suppose they demand a lot of money. Don´t undestand why they use the word "church" tough.
