So the UK has a history of great musical artists, but out of them all, which do you think are the best Females out of them?

In terms of success I think you could include Kate Bush, Annie Lennox, and these 2 also are very creative with there music.

Vocally Id say people like Barbara Streisand and Annie are very capable vocalists, and as already proven she hold herself against people like Celine

However, what about the upcoming females? Will Lilly Allen and Jamelia still be around in 20 years time, and will we ever have an R&B singer who can hold themselves against US ledgends such as Aretha Franklin?

Discuss B)

Annie Lennox easily, she does us Brits proud that woman

kate bush.... period. no other uk female has been as creative and successfull as she has.... dear old annie might be popular, but she hasnt been as innovative as kate.

ps remember they are both MY generation :)

Kate Bush! Enya is Irish so I'm afraid I can't say her. :(

Victoria beckham :) :) :) :)

NOT  I think as a whole success wise and in terms of innovation it is Kate Bush, but my personal favourite is Joss Stone. I know it seems an odd choice, but shes still early in her career, and I think if she realises how to really get soul in her music and becomes able to write greater lyrics, then I seriously think she could be someone to watch in the future

Annie Lennox is a legend through and through.

People need to appreciate the depth and beauty of her work - I know 'No More I Love Yous' is a cover version but it is one of my favourite songs ever - so haunting and the way she always makes every video so dramatic and eerie. I adore her.

TBH I doubt any of today's acts will still be around in 20 years time - people only like what's IN at the moment these days sadly.

I think unfortunately Keisha is going to fade away, people just dont seem to notice her :(

Out of loyalty, and pure belief in her, I'm going to have to be utterly predictable, and say Lucie Silvas. Her music is fresh and innovative but the albums still have an overall classic sound that disregards in-fashion electronic sounds, and are totally timeless.

I have to agree with Kate Bush aswell, she makes amazing music.

Keisha White and Beverley Knight - both VERY underrated.

Vocally, our greatest singer is Alison Moyet.

However, for innovation and creativity, there's Kate Bush and Elizabeth Fraser.

Annie Lennox disappeared up her own ass late 80s when she discovered guitars and rawk.... and Graham - her cover of No More I Love You's is monstrous! The Lover Speaks original, however - incredible.

I think Kim Wilde is one of the best British female artists. Not so much for vocal talent but overall her music has been brilliant. Especially her earlier stuff before she decided she wanted to be a Kylie/Madonna

alison was great, prefered dusty as a vocalist though although dusty lacked the inovation that kate has.

In terms of inspiration and innovation it has to be Kate Bush and Siouxsie Sioux. Absolute legendary artists the pair of them....

I've a soft spot for Beth Gibbons (Portishead) as well, if you want an example of what a REAL contemporary R&B (as in Rhythm and Blues) artist should be, then look no further. Blues with a capital 'B'....

yes, Beth Gibbons is incredible - did you hear her album with Rustin Man? Oh my.... spine tingling. She's done guest vocals on a Portuguese guitarist's album, too, on a track called Lonely Carousel. My mate manages Portishead in Brizzle.... and their new album's all but done..... next year, apparently....

Siouxsie's wonderful - her solo album should be great... but I wouldn't call her a legendary vocalist.... she's a total icon for females in music, though - fantastic, ballsy bird.
