You have used The OCC's Singles Chart Stats for The Shadows. This is wrong.

The OCC have messed up The Shadows Stats.

As The Shadows they had 5 UK No.1 Singles.

As Cliff Richard and The Shadows they had 7 more No.1 Singles.

The OCC only counts 1 of those 7 No.1's with Cliff.

Which means that it gives them 6 No.1 Hits.

You should either count every Hit they had with Cliff, or none at all. Mixing them up is pointless.

As The Shadows they had 5 No.1 Singles and 16 Top 10 Hits.

Really, they are the only UK Singles Stats that you should count for them.

In the past, The OCC have told me that they do not regard Cliff and The Shadows Hits as being Shadows Hits.

By including some Cliff Hits in The Shadows Section, they have contradicted their own rules.

Corrected, forget to change them so it still had the previous acts statistics

Thanks - I realise my post was also slightly out as Oasis had 8 #1s not 7, I must have erased one from memory (possibly Lyla :) )

Oh well, it’s done now. I do think it’s interesting though that the only time certain people seem to comment is just to point out errors, nothing else, no appreciation for the effort and no discussion about the chart positions themselves. Really just makes me not want to even bother.

Like seriously, how am I suppose to know that the official chart site has errors and what all of them are, all I did was type “the shadows” and associated every single that was credited to them, what else do people expect me to do jeez.

Dannyboy - I don't just comment about 'your' errors'. I've thanked you for your, (hard), work in the past.

I'm sorry that you took my comments to be 'rude'. The alternative is for anyone who spots any errors

in your Lists, to pretend not to notice them. To say nothing. In case you get offended. Personally, I like

people to point out any Chart errors that I make. It does no-one any good to pretend that everything is

accurate, when it isn't.

I was not criticising your Chart work. I was pointing out that it is best not to go by everything on The OCC

Site. They make a lot of mistakes. (Such as giving The Beatles 65 UK No.1 Singles Weeks, when it should be

69 No.1 Weeks).

I was just pointing out that The OCC have made errors about The Shadows Hits.

They have included 1 of their No.1's with Cliff Richard and ignored their other 6 No.1's with him.

They are not consistent. They should either include all of The Shadows, (before then, The Drifters), Hits

with Cliff, or not include any of them. Including some, but not others is just messy.

The old Guinness Chart Books etc. used to include all of Cliff & The Drifters and Cliff & The Shadows Hits, with

The Shadows Hits. However, I know several people at The OCC and they tell me that they do not count any

Cliff Hits as Shadows/Drifters Hits. Which is rather confusing, when they include some in The Shadows 'Section'

on their Site.

I know several UK Chart Experts and DJ's. We are in touch often. If I make an error, I'm delighted when they tell me.

I'd rather be told my mistakes, than have people pretending that I haven't made any...

Its not the fact that you point out errors, others have done so and I have no issue with them and thanked them but its how you do it, for some reason you always come across quite condescending.

You talk about knowing all these errors with the official site but guess what, the rest of us don't, so when we are creating countdowns like this we can only use the information we have at hand from an offical source. If its wrong as you say then it cant be helped now, all of the calculation etc have been done now.

29,094 points for Lady Gaga would be impressive enough, considering she made her chart debut in 2009 (and this excludes the ASIB songs from this year), but I'd guess at least 26,000 of those are pre-2014 - so that's an average of 100+ points a week for 2009-2013 - the equivalent of having one song at #1 every week for 5 years... and all from paid-for sales too :o
