Biography

Fredo

London-based grime MC Fredo focuses his lyrics on his drug-dealing lifestyle, the streets that he calls home, and all the money he's made. Hailing from London's infamously tough Mozart Estate, Fredo was considered one of the leading figures in the notorious London gang Harrow Road Boys. He practiced his craft as an MC for years, before emerging in 2016 with the single "They Ain't 100." The track immediately garnered attention, including a small co-sign from Drake, who featured the track in his 30th birthday mix on OVO Sound Radio. The same year he released two further singles, "Trapspot" and "Pattern Gang," before appearing on Kojo Funds and Abra Cadabra's hit single "Dun Talkin [Remix]" alongside Yxng Bane, Frisco, and JME. In 2017 Fredo escalated the hype he had already received, releasing his third single, "Get the Pot," early in the year, quickly followed by his debut appearance on Charlie Sloth's Fire in the Booth, both in preparation for his debut full-length, Get Rich or Get Recalled, which was released independently in March of that year. - iTunes

Young T & Bugsey

There aren't many young rap pretenders who could write a track one week, shoot its video the next, then watch it fire to nearly half a million plays and counting seven days after that. Then again, most young MCs aren't Young T & Bugsey, the Nottingham duo whose fierce, eclectic hip-hop - as evidenced on quickly-assembled new single 'Gangland' - has turned them into ones-to-watch, championed by Stormzy, Tim Westwood and many more.

"Our sound is the both of our cultures and backgrounds without any kinda boundaries or restrictions," say the pair, who collide murky, bass-heavy beats with sounds from their childhoods: ad libs borrowed from their respective Nigerian and Jamaican parents' record collections, grime flows inspired by school days rapping over instrumentals nabbed from YouTube, and hooks paying homage to lazy sofa sessions in front of MTV Base. "50 Cent, Snoop, Pharrell - that era was it for us," laughs Young T. "Hot summer days, you'd still be inside watching MTV Base, the whole day."

Young T & Bugsey met aged 15, having been aware of each other's DIY recordings on separate sides of the city. When they eventually linked up, first as part of a collective before zeroing in on their chemistry as a duo, they quickly found themselves to be on a similar level, musically and otherwise. "We each bring something to the table that the other maybe wouldn't," says Bugsey. "We're very different in a lot of ways but in other ways exactly the same. And we've grown up together from there. My problems are his problems, his problems are my problems."

Building their project from a community arts space in Nottingham's St Ann's area, their grind towards the brink of blowing up began with a debut single, '1st Quarter', which was followed by more tracks, each one building their buzz in the local region and beyond. Then came a chance encounter with Stormzy behind the scenes of a Westwood Crib session in 2015. "We were bare young and thought: we gotta rap for him," says Bugsey. "He started rapping with us, so we're there going back to back with Stormzy. He felt what we were doing and we're grateful to say he's been really supportive since."

Since then, breakout singles 'Glistenin' and 'No Mickey Mouse Ting' have further helped establish them as on a mission. "Shooting the videos for those felt like a moment for Nottingham," say the pair, who call the city a big influence on their identity. "When you're not from London, when you accept you're an outsider in those terms, it's like, bruv, if you can get your city behind you, then you're good." With more singles, festival dates and a long-form project on the horizon, it'll be the world next. - Primary Talent

It would sound better if they used Bart Simpson’s voice for the ay caramba bit
hate ay caramba, my least fav song in the t40
Awful lot of dirge at the lower end of the chart today

This is atrocious on first listen.

How many people were bracing themselves for This Is Me when he said that?

I was ready to sing-a-long to this is me and then that noise happened 😂😂

It would sound better if they used Bart Simpson’s voice for the ay caramba bit

It would be better if they scrapped all of it and started again with people who know what a song is.

Biography

Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band from Los Angeles, California. It currently consists of lead vocalist Adam Levine, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Jesse Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, lead guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn, keyboardist PJ Morton and multi-instrumentalist Sam Farrar. Original members Levine, Carmichael, Madden and drummer Ryan Dusick first came together as Kara's Flowers in 1994, while they were still in high school. After self-releasing their debut album We Like Digging?, the band signed to Reprise Records and released the album The Fourth World in 1997. The album garnered a tepid response, after which the record label dropped the band and the members focused on college.

In 2001, the band remerged as Maroon 5, pursuing a different direction and adding guitarist Valentine. The band signed with a subsidiary of J Records, Octone Records, and released their debut album Songs About Jane in June 2002. Aided by its lead single "Harder to Breathe", which received heavy airplay, the album debuted at number six on the Billboard 200 chart, and went platinum in 2004. The band won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2005.

Maroon 5's second album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long was released in 2007. It reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and the lead single, "Makes Me Wonder", became the band's first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2010, the band released their third studio album Hands All Over, to mixed reviews, re-releasing it in 2011 to include the single "Moves like Jagger", which topped the Billboard Hot 100. In 2012, the band released their fourth album, Overexposed, which spawned four successful singles, with the second single, "One More Night", topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart for nine consecutive weeks.

In 2014, the band signed with Interscope Records and released their fifth studio album, V, which reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart, as well as the sixth studio album Red Pill Blues in 2017. With the addition in the band's line-up which includes PJ Mortion on keyboardist and Sam Farrar on multiple instruments in 2012 and 2016, making the band as seven official members. Maroon 5 has sold more than 75 million records, making them one of the world's best-selling music artists. - Wikipedia

Biography

Croydon rapper Hardy Caprio gained early recognition for his work when he was nominated for the Get Rated award at its inaugural ceremony (its aim is to celebrate new talent). Caprio grew up in Croydon, South London, as did grime star Stormzy, but he went to school in Bromley, a more well-off area of South London. His dual existence showed him that the drama he experienced in Croydon could be avoided. He began putting out his own music, which resulted in the EPs Hardy Season and The Hollywood EP. In 2017, he released the single "Unsigned," which garnered over two million views on YouTube. - iTunes

Biography

Lil Baby

Rapper Lil Baby grew up in Atlanta hanging with friends like Young Thug, Coach K, and Pee, leaning more toward a life of petty crime and street hustling while his friends went on to thrive in the music industry. In 2015, at age 19, Lil Baby went to prison for two years for a probation violation. Upon his release in 2017, he jump-started his rap career with a mixtape called Perfect Timing, released in April of that year. The mixtape featured cameos from friends like Lil Yachty, Young Thug, and Gunna, and strong production from 808 Mafia, Brickz, and many others, highlighted by Lil Baby's woozy flows. The mixtape immediately brought the young rapper fame, in part due to his affiliations with friends in the Quality Control family of artists as well as the 4 Pockets Full clique. As his mixtape attracted more listeners, Lil Baby worked constantly on new music, releasing singles like "My Dawg" and the Young Thug collaboration "Pink Slip" in the summer of 2017. Other 2017 releases included Harder Than Hard, 2 the Hard Way (with Marlo), and Too Hard. Lil Baby's debut studio album, Harder Than Ever, appeared in May of 2018. Featuring guest appearances from Drake, Offset, Lil Uzi Vert, and others, the release entered the Billboard 200 album chart at number three. - iTunes

Gunna

College Park, Georgia-based rapper Gunna became interested in music and rapping as a hobby in his early teens, but got more serious about the possibility of a career in hip-hop around 2016, when he was introduced to Atlanta MC Young Thug by a mutual friend. The two developed a friendship, and before long Gunna was in the studio hopping on Young Thug's track "Floyd Mayweather," where he lent a verse alongside rap superstars Gucci Mane and Travis Scott. That feature was enough to jettison Gunna into relative fame, and he was soon signed to Young Thug's YSL imprint. By late 2016, he'd released the Drip Season mixtape and followed it with Drip Season 2 in the summer of 2017, while working toward a full-length with producers Brick Beats and Playmakers' Turbo, among others. Third mixtape Drip Season 3 appeared in 2018, featuring guest appearances from Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, Metro Boomin, and others. - iTunes

After his debut album Infinite (1996) and then Slim Shady EP (1997), Eminem signed with Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment and subsequently achieved mainstream popularity in 1999 with The Slim Shady LP, which earned him his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. His next two releases, 2000's The Marshall Mathers LP and 2002's The Eminem Show, were worldwide successes, with each being certified diamond in U.S. sales and both winning Best Rap Album Grammy Awards—making Eminem the first artist to win the award for three consecutive LPs. They were followed by Encore in 2004, another critical and commercial success. Eminem went on hiatus after touring in 2005, releasing Relapse in 2009 and Recovery in 2010. Both won Grammy Awards and Recovery was the best-selling album of 2010 worldwide, the second time he had the international best-selling album of the year (after The Eminem Show). Eminem's eighth album, 2013's The Marshall Mathers LP 2, won two Grammy Awards, including Best Rap Album; it expanded his record for the most wins in that category and his Grammy total to 15. In 2017, he released his ninth studio album, Revival. On August 31, 2018, Eminem released his tenth studio album, Kamikaze.

In addition to his solo career, Eminem is an original member of the Midwest hip hop groups Soul Intent and D12. He is also known for his collaborations with fellow Detroit-based rapper Royce da 5'9"; the two are collectively known as Bad Meets Evil. Eminem has developed other ventures, including Shady Records, with manager Paul Rosenberg, which helped launch the careers of artists such as 50 Cent. Eminem has also established his own channel, Shade 45, on Sirius XM Radio. In November 2002, he starred in the hip hop film 8 Mile, which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Lose Yourself", becoming the first rap artist to ever win the award. Eminem has made cameo appearances in the films The Wash (2001), Funny People (2009), and The Interview (2014), and the television series Entourage (2010).
