Biography

Sigala

Sigala is the musical nom de plume of Bruce Fielder, a London-based house DJ, producer, and remixer. Born and raised in Norfolk, England, Fielder began playing piano as a child, and played in various bands after graduating university. He found work as a producer, and co-wrote Ella Eyre and Sigma's 2015 U.K. hit single "Good Times." His first solo single as Sigala was "Easy Love," an energetic house tune built around a sample of the Jackson 5's iconic hit "ABC." Released by Ministry of Sound, it entered the U.K. singles chart and shot up to number one in its second week. Fielder's second single, "Sweet Lovin'" (featuring singer/songwriter Bryn Christopher), hit number three and was certified gold or platinum in several countries. Several more hits followed in 2016, including "Say You Do" (featuring Imani and DJ Fresh), "Give Me Your Love" (featuring John Newman and Chic's Nile Rodgers), and "Ain't Giving Up," a collaboration with Craig David that appeared on his sixth album, Following My Intuition. In 2017, Sigala co-produced the single "Show You Love" with Danish DJ Kato, sung by Hailee Steinfeld. He then paired with singer Paloma Faith for the 2018 single "Lullaby." - iTunes

Ella Eyre

By the age of 19, the powerfully voiced, BRIT School-educated Ella Eyre had already been featured on a U.K. number one single. "Waiting All Night" combined an intense performance from Eyre with the inventive production skills of fellow Londoners Rudimental. Issued to coincide with the drum'n'bass act's debut album Home -- also an instant number one record -- the success of both releases was reinforced by Eyre's involvement in a spring 2013 Rudimental U.K. tour. While "Waiting All Night" wasn't her first appearance on record, it significantly raised Eyre's profile and also helped to vindicate Universal's decision to sign her to their newly established Virgin EMI label. Those who were in anticipation of her debut solo material in the meantime sought out Other People's Heartache, Pt. 2, a 2012 download-only mixtape by rising London alt rock act Bastille that featured Eyre on two tracks: "No Angels" and "Free."

Her own singles soon began to hit the charts, including 2013's "Deeper" and a pair of Top 20 hits in 2014, "If I Go" and "Comeback." By the end of the year, Eyre had finished work on her debut full-length Feline, featuring an array of producers (Ilya, DJ Fresh, Sigma, Sigala). The album appeared in February 2015, peaking at number four in the British chart; soon after, the single "Together" became her third Top 20 hit in less than a year. A 2017 collaborative single with Sigala called "We Came Here for Love" arrived in early 2017, reaching number six on the U.K. charts. It was followed later that year by the single "Ego," which featured Ty Dolla $ign. Also in 2017, Eyre participated on the Artists for Grenfell charity recording of "Bridge Over Troubled Water." - iTunes

Meghan Trainor

Scoring her first hit at 20 years old with the dance-friendly paean to body positivity "All About That Bass," American singer/songwriter Meghan Trainor topped the charts with a retro-pop sound that won her a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2016. Up until that point, she had already devoted most of her life to music. Born in December 1993, Trainor was raised on Nantucket Island in Massachusetts, where she began making music when she was seven, and wrote her first song at the age of 11. Trainor attended high school at the Nauset High School on Cape Cod; there she sang and played trumpet in the jazz band, and also studied guitar, taking lessons from Johnny Spampinato, noted guitarist with NRBQ and the Incredible Casuals. In addition, Trainor played guitar and keyboards, and sang with a local Nantucket band called Island Fusion for four years. She attended the Berklee College of Music's Performance Program, a special five-week course, in 2009 and 2010, receiving high marks and reaching the finals of their songwriting competition. By the time she was 18, Trainor had self-released three albums of her own material and landed a publishing deal with Big Yellow Dog Music (who placed her songs with artists such as Rascal Flatts, Macy Kate, Common Kings, and Sabrina Carpenter) before she signed a deal with Epic Records.

Trainor's first single for Epic was "All About That Bass," in which she proudly declared she's "no stick figure silicon Barbie doll," and "every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top." The pastel-colored video for "All About That Bass" became an online sensation, racking up over 1,600,000 views on YouTube within a month of its debut in June 2014. Soon, "All About That Bass" stormed up the Billboard Hot 100, reaching the pole position not only in the U.S. but throughout the world. As it racked up eight weeks on the top of the U.S. charts, it wound up getting certified five-times platinum, selling over four million copies in America alone; international sales reached over six million, cementing "All About That Bass"' status as one of the biggest singles of 2014. In comparison, its sequel, "Lips Are Moving," paled, but it was still a notable hit, reaching four on the Billboard charts and earning double-platinum certification, setting the stage nicely for the January 2015 release of Trainor's debut, Title. The album promptly hit number one in multiple countries. Her third single from the album, "Dear Future Husband," reached number 24 on the U.S. singles chart. A contribution to the Peanuts Movie soundtrack, a co-write on Rascal Flatts' single "I Like the Sound of That," and most significantly, a Grammy nomination, rounded out her impressive year.

A few weeks before the March 2016 release of "No," the first single from her second album, Trainor won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. The following May, she released her sophomore studio album, Thank You, which included the hits "No," "Me Too," and "Better" (featuring Yo Gotti). In 2017, Trainor released the single "I'm a Lady," which appeared in that year's computer-animated adventure/comedy film Smurfs: The Lost Village. In February 2018, Trainor released "No Excuses," the lead single from her upcoming third album. - iTunes

Biography

Panic! at the Disco is an American rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2004 by childhood friends Brendon Urie, Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith and Brent Wilson. Since 2015, vocalist Urie is the only official member in the band, supported on tours by guitarist Kenneth Harris, drummer Dan Pawlovich, and bassist Nicole Row. Panic! at the Disco recorded its first demos while its members were in high school. Shortly after, the band recorded and released its debut studio album, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out (2005). Popularized by the second single, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies," the album was certified double platinum in the US. In 2006, founding bassist Brent Wilson was fired from the band during an extensive world tour and subsequently replaced by Jon Walker.

Influenced by 1960s rock bands the Beatles, the Zombies and the Beach Boys, and preceded by the single "Nine in the Afternoon," the band's second studio album, Pretty. Odd. (2008) marked a significant departure from the sound of the band's debut. Ross and Walker, who favored the band's new direction, departed because Urie and Smith wanted to make further changes to the band's style. The duo subsequently formed a new band, The Young Veins, leaving Urie and Smith as the sole remaining members of Panic! at the Disco.

Continuing as a duo, Urie and Smith released a new single, "New Perspective," and recruited bassist Dallon Weekes and guitarist Ian Crawford as touring musicians for live performances. Weekes was later inducted into the band's lineup as a full-time member in 2010. The band's third studio album, Vices & Virtues (2011), was recorded solely by Urie and Smith in 2010, produced by John Feldmann and Butch Walker.

As a three-piece, Urie, Smith, and Weekes recorded and released the band's fourth studio album, Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!, in 2013. Prior to the release of the album, Smith unofficially left the band due to health and drug-related issues, leaving Urie and Weekes as the remaining members. The duo recruited guitarist Kenneth Harris and drummer Dan Pawlovich as touring musicians for live performances.

In 2015, Smith officially left the band after not performing live with the band since his departure in 2013. Shortly thereafter, Weekes reverted to being a touring member once again, leaving Urie as the only member of the official lineup. In April 2015, "Hallelujah" was released as the first single from Panic! at the Disco's fifth studio album, Death of a Bachelor (2016). In December 2017, Weekes officially announced his departure from the band. Preceded by lead single "Say Amen (Saturday Night)," the band's sixth studio album, Pray for the Wicked, was released on June 22, 2018. - iTunes

Biography

Australian-born adult alternative singer/songwriter Dean Lewis taught himself guitar growing up, playing along to his favorite Oasis songs and writing his own compositions, slowly amassing a small arsenal of original songs. He would continue largely outside the public eye for some time, quietly writing over 80 original songs before eventually releasing his first proper single, "Waves," in 2016. The song was a huge hit in Australia and was certified platinum within a year of its release. He followed the single with "Need You Now" in early 2017, and in May of that year released a debut EP titled Same Kind of Different. The moody and evocative pop tones of the EP included "Waves" and "Need You Now," as well as four additional tracks in a similar dark yet melodic style. A third single from the album, "Chemicals," appeared in 2018. - iTunes

He is also a five-time BMI Songwriter of the Year award winner and 2017 iHeartRadio Producer of the Year award winner.

Halsey

Halsey is the alias of New York-based pop artist Ashley Frangipane. The New Jersey native took her moniker from a New York L train subway stop, and her adopted city plays a large role in both the sound and lyrics of her dark, gritty electro-pop, which has been compared to acts like Chvrches and Lorde. Based on the strength of her first single "Ghost," she signed a deal with Capitol-owned electronic/dance label Astralwerks in early 2014. Her debut EP, Room 93, arrived in October of that same year. In 2015, Halsey released her debut full-length album, Badlands, which featured production from Lido, the Futuristics, Son Lux, and others. Included on the album were the singles "Ghost," "New Americana," "Colors," and "Castle," a version of which also appeared on the soundtrack to The Huntsman: Winter's War. Badlands debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and sold well, ultimately achieving gold certification status. In January 2017, Halsey returned with the single "Not Afraid Anymore," which was featured on the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack. Three months later, she released "Now or Never," the first single from her sophomore album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom. Featuring collaborations with Sia, Greg Kurstin, and Benny Blanco, the LP appeared in June 2017 and topped the Billboard 200. A remix of the LP's dark pop single "Alone," featuring Big Sean and Stefflon Don, arrived in March 2018. - Wikipedia

Khalid

Combining a voice that sounds made for classic soul with cutting-edge music, Khalid is a singer/songwriter from El Paso, Texas. Raised by a military family, Khalid lived in Germany and upstate New York before settling in Texas. He was first inspired to make music by his mother, who was a singer and loved '90s R&B artists such as Brandy and TLC. While still a teenager, he began making music in 2015, incorporating influences as wide-ranging as Frank Ocean, India.Arie, Alt-J, and Father John Misty in the songs he posted online. He eventually connected with producer SykSense, who, along with Tunji Ige and Smash David, worked on Khalid's bittersweet breakout single, "Location." Released in mid-2016, the song hit the Top Ten of Billboard's Hot R&B Songs chart the following January. Another single, "Hopeless," preceded Khalid's debut album, American Teen, which arrived in March 2017. Later that year, Khalid won a VMA from MTV for Best Artist and collaborated with Fifth Harmony singer Normani Kordei on a track for the film Love, Simon. That single, "Love Lies," was released in early 2018. - iTunes

It's a shame that it's ALWAYS male R&B that does well initially, people like Ella Mai, M.O, RAY BLK, Stefflon Don, RAYE etc. always struggle when they're making just as good if not (imo) better music!

Ciara "Level Up" and RAYE "Friends" oh and Janet Jackson "Made For Now" Three great recent examples!

So we’re trading George Ezra and benny Blanco for whatever that Dave song is. that’s cute tht’s Cute
