That's OK for Carly Rae Jepsen. Would you say there's even a glimmer of hope for a Hot Hits add on that in the future? (I remember I kept hoping the same thing for Janelle Monáe and Robyn and feel this may turn out similarly).

All it needs is a Hot Hits add but Cut To The Feeling was so much better and did nothing so can’t see this doing much. THOUGH if this is the lead of an album and that was a random release then perhaps could be different?

I think people are overestimating the power of Hot Hits... if song doesn't click, any exposure wouldn't make it to top ten.

Hot Hits support (particularly top end) can make some random songs popular over similar songs that do nothing, from my observation anyway!

Hmmm it's not fair to speak about "similar songs" because if Olly Murs and Sam Smith released "similar songs" the Smith one would obviously be more popular from the start.

 

Also, there are other promotion tools on Spotify than just Hot Hits, adverts and such.

Exactly this. Alec Benjamin's Let Me Down Slowly was on Hot Hits for months but didn't once crack the top 200. It needs more than just a placing on Hot Hits - any exposure will give it a helping hand and if a song doesn't click, there's only so much you can do. (with Alec, I expect the fact he was always quite low down didn't help + the fact he's not remotely a known name would lead to more skips)

Gaga getting closer to that #1, just 4k away!

Carly's record label should promote the song as the comeback of that Call Me Maybe girl in ads, as it's a bona fide classic and people will immediately attach that song to her. Party for One itself doesn't say anything to anyone except pop connoisseurs and gay audience. That's about 100k streams daily MAX in the UK.

 

Of course radio airplay would help as well.
