The weird thing re the Baby radio / streaming debate is it’s been No.1 on Shazam for most of the past two weeks. So you’d think it’s a sign that people were liking what they were hearing and wanting to stream.

3) The public are tired of Luis/Latin vibes in general

and to a lesser extent the fact that everyone's kind of over the Latin vibe.

In what world are you guys in? Surely not the real one, where a bunch of Latin vibe songs are still among the biggest pretty much everywhere.

In terms of UK charts at least, latin music has notably faded in popularity and prescence since the start of the year.

The UK is definitely an outlier when it comes to that because Latin music is still huge in the US and in the rest of the world. But yes, it might explain it's underperformance on UK Spotify. Not in the rest of the world though.

I’m pretty sure Taki Taki and MIA are the only songs in the Spotify Top 50 that have a tiny bit of Latin in them. Even so, those 2 songs haven’t performed amazingly well either given that those artists are among the biggest of 2018.
I think we've definitely reached the tail end of the Latin phase in the UK at least! Songs like Taki Taki and MIA would've been much bigger this time last year.
'Taki Taki' is #1 on the worldwide YouTube chart and has been nearly every day since its release according to Kworb. Latin music has always dominated YouTube though. It was also #1 on worldwide Spotify for a long time before Ariana dethroned it.

In the UK, right? Cause those songs are both huge in the US and among the biggest in the planet right now.

But yes, I'm inclined to agree the Latin genre may have peaked in the UK, at least for now. But the UK is extremely influenced by what's hot in the USA so as long as Latin-inspired music is big there, chances of it coming back in the UK are extremely high. I mean, "Taki Taki" features Cardi B and Selena, neither of which are particularly big in Britain while "Mia" is entirely in Spanish (which is also a huge obstacle in the UK market) but you can bet that if Drake released an English or Spanglish Latino song or a hot act like Dua Lipa went in that direction than it'd easily be a hit imo.

I was only referring to the UK market.

Taki taki is huge worldwide

Always 1-2 on global Spotify

But just low top20 in uk-us

Must be doing well in France or somewhere ;)

I wouldn’t say Taki Taki is huge in the US either. It failed to go to top 10 and dropped out of the top 20 this week!

Taki Taki was big in the US especially when you consider Cardi's label stopped it from being sent to radio originally as they didn't want another 'pop' hit and wanted to focus on her new single 'Money'. It only went to radio about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

How can Cardi's label do that?

If they don't want it sent to radio's then she should stop appearing on songs and allow others to appear!

Taki Taki's biggest success stories are in Spanish speaking countries - it had lengthy #1 runs on Spotify in Spain, Mexico and Argentina for example. No surprise, Spanish music streams very well and seems to have an even bigger impact on YouTube!

I'd really like her to stop appearing on songs, actually. That's a pretty good suggestion.

:ne: 02. 6ix9ine - KIKA (370k)

:ne: 05. 6ix9ine - MAMA (277k)

Then a few more in the top 50....

:left: 06. Ava Max - Sweet But Psycho (would be #4 without 6ix9ine)

 09. Ellie Goulding - Close To Me (would be #7 without 6ix9ine)

wtf who is actually buying/streaming/producing/promoting/etc a convicted child molester's music?
