Brisbane residents can shush Williams

16th November 2006, 7:08 WST

It's the ultimate form of heckling.

Residents around Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium will be able to use a phone line to shush Robbie Williams when the British entertainer plays two sold-out gigs in December.

The plan is part of special conditions brought in by the Queensland government to allow three major concerts a year to be held at the multi-million dollar sports facility at Milton after local residents complained they didn't want to put up with the noise.

The Williams concert is the first music show to be held at the refurbished stadium since it reopened in 2003.

He'll play Brisbane on December 13 and 14 in front of a combined total of 100,000 fans.

Residents will be able to phone a dedicated information line and complain if music from the concerts and rehearsals bothers them.

During the superstar's rehearsals, sound checks and performances, monitors will keep tabs on noise levels in five nearby locations in the city, Milton and Paddington.

If the sound passes a set limit, an official from the Major Sports Facilities Authority will be present on the sound mixing desk to turn down the volume.

But Sports Minister Andrew Fraser assured fans attending the two concerts no "anti-Robbie Williams grumps" would be able to spoil their nights with unfounded complaints.

He said the phone line was about recognising the rights of local residents.

But he said the volume would only be turned down if it exceeded the set limits at any of the monitoring locations, not just because someone complained.

"If the noise is above the regulations, we'll change it, if it's within it, then we'll continue at that level," Mr Fraser said.

A report will be prepared following each concert on the noise measurements and recommend any remedial actions needed at future events.

Irish supergroup U2 last week played an outdoor concert for 45,000 fans at the Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre on Brisbane's southside.

There were many complaints about delays entering the venue and fans also had trouble getting public transport after the U2 concert.

Suncorp Stadium could be the permanent venue for outdoor rock concerts in Brisbane if the Williams show proves successful.

I can just see them try to shush him during the show...you KNOW he will announce it if it happens!

Or he could say, stuff it cancel.

3 concerts a year. It's hardly a mega inconvenience is it? Don't attempt to leave home, get the deckchairs and the barbie out and listen to the music for God's sake. That's what I'd be doing!

My friend lives right next to Hampden. She loves concert nights. She sits in her garden, listens, sings along, watches the fireworks. And it doesn't cost her a penny.

And it's not like you are going to get loads of trouble from Robbie Fans. -_-

Robbie Williams Is Quite Fond Of Kylie Minogue

November 17, 2006 8:04 a.m. EST

Maira Oliveira - All Headline News Reporter

London, England (BANG) - Kylie Minogue's boyfriend better hold on tight to his girlfriend because, if Robbie Williams had it his way, he'd be shagging the Aussie superstar by now.

Robbie recently said he's had a crush on Stylin' Kylie for the last 20 years. But then again, what female celebrity hasn't the British pop star had a crush on?

The "Angels" singer - who recorded the British hit single "Kids" with Kylie in 2000 - admits he has been attracted to the diminutive singer ever since she starred in the Australian soap "Neighbors" in the 80s.

Robbie insists he would consider making a move on her if she wasn't with her French actor boyfriend Olivier Martinez.

He said, "I fancied Kylie ever since she was on 'Neighbors,' but as a singer, I fancy her even more."

Robbie has also revealed he tends to be careful when getting up close and personal with his female fans, as the encounters can be a bit scary.

He said, "It's very dangerous, kissing the public. Some bite and some smell."

Rather than saying "what female celebrity has he NOT had a crush on..." they should say "...what male celebrity DOESN'T have a crush on Kylie??"

Robbie would have something wrong with him if he didn't want to get with Kylie...I'D get with her if I had the chance, LOL!!

I always hoped Robbie and Kylie would fall for each other. I like Kylie. She would pass Jupiter's 'Robbie suitable girlfriend' Test.

OK, he'd need to stand in a trench all the time but hey....

Night we forgot how to rock

November 18, 2006 12:15am

AAMI Stadium is home to some of the loudest crowds South Australia has ever heard, so long as footballers are on the park.

On Thursday, the band hyped as the world's biggest, U2, delivered on a promise to return to Adelaide.

There were 60,000 fans who waited patiently for Bono and Co - and it was an amazing show.

But how did we show our gratitude? With a few cheers and soft claps at best. It looked like there were 60,000 people there, just didn't sound like it.

The crowd was lacklustre at best, with mild excitement whenever Bono mentioned "Adelaide" or worked anything Australian into his performance.

Aside from the mosh pit - where excitement is a given since those fans wait hours to grab their prime position - enthusiasm was definitely lacking.

I had seated tickets and stood as the band came on stage.

Thirteen years ago, I was at AAMI Stadium for U2's Zooropa tour. There was a third of the fans there but they made three times the noise as Thursday's crowd.

Adelaide Now has been inundated with comments about the concert, many agreeing that silence was certainly not golden.

"Adelaide wonders why we miss out on concerts.," Corinne Pensa, of Glenelg, wrote. "There was no energy in the stadium and if I was a big band I would never bother coming here again."

Exactly. In coming weeks, we host international acts who have gone out of their way, in a lot of the cases, to include Adelaide on their itinerary.

Robbie Williams left us off last time he toured, not this time.

Pearl Jam, Kylie and Elton John will also arrive in Adelaide.

Most of them are sold out, but it's not just about speaking with your wallets.

You want them to come back? Let's really show our support - and use our voices.

Robbie Williams' Rudebox out

The video doesn’t take any risks. It says the name of the song and the album so many times, one is unlikely to forget it in a hurry. But then, Rudebox is the result of Robbie Williams' 7th entry into the recording studio and it's doing rather well for itself.

It was certified platinum in the UK and most of Europe, selling more than half a million copies on the day of its release and it seems that trying to be different has paid off.

"I'm just more confident. When I left 'Take That' and started my solo career with some writing partnerships, there were changes which just ran and ran for around 5 albums. You get into a comfort zone - you know the person, you know what you’re gonna do and you're not scared to try things out. But as that's done its course, I'd no other option to go and explore. And this option has given me the confidence to go out and do that," quips Robbie.

But all the experimentation hasn't helped him break into the US market yet. This time, too, the response has been nothing more than lukewarm for the man who once sang for the band 'Take That'. His solo career has been going very smoothly since he left, and the success of his latest effort will surely add to the already well-firmed smooth operator image.

And though his dream of playing James Bond might remain unfulfilled, the money from a singing career seems pretty good for the moment.

ROBBIE'S D'AMATO SAUCE!

Star smitten by tasty Lisa

19 November 2006

Alice Walker

ROBBIE WILLIAMS has a saucy new girlfriend - Lisa D'Amato.

The American model has been regularly dated by the superstar singer since they met at trendy Hollywood club Social last month.

Friends say Robbie, 32, is truly smitten by the 25-year-old beauty.

A source close to the star said: "Robbie and Lisa hit it off immediately and swapped numbers the first night they met.

"Lisa is young, gorgeous and fun to be around and they are getting on really well. It's only early days but Robbie seems really confident it is going somewhere." Robbie has invited Lisa to his Beverly Hills mansion several times. Our source added: "It takes a lot for Robbie to trust a girl, but he is completely relaxed around Lisa.

"She has been spending quite a lot of time at his place, which proves just how keen he is."

Rob hasn't had a long-term girlfriend since splitting with RACHEL HUNTER three years ago after 10 months together.

The Stoke-on-Trent born singer said recently that he prefers dating American women because it is easier to keep his relationships under wraps in the States.

ROB: I'D SLEEP WITH A GUY

Eva Simpson & Caroline Hedley

ROBBIE Williams admits he'd sleep with another guy - but only under certain extreme conditions.

Rob, 32, says: "I wouldn't enjoy it but I could do it under pain of death. Or if it meant saving a baby bunny from being burned alive."

But he's blunt about what he looks for in a woman. "A great set of t*ts and a slappable arse are the must-haves for me," he reckons.

Anyone fit the discription

:o

Now there's a surprise. The 3am girls don't mention his charts defeat to TT (which I expected), instead they come up with those strange quotes, that is if they really are Rob's quotes.

Does anyone know where they could be from ?
