Providing this is pushed, I can see this being huge in the new year:

He's been gaining good traction the last 6 months, and with Grace Alisted on radio 1 he could have a successful 2019. Is he eligible for the Sound of?

Ah I see, strange he's only gaining traction so late in the year. Fair play to

Him though!

Drake will release a surprise new single- only for it to flop and peak at #2 :P
Blasphemy!!!

I just can't see it. The gap between 21 and 25 was 4 years, 10 months. I think the gap between 25 and A4 will be a bit shorter but that still takes it into 2020.

Also, expecting more soundtracks to get big, The Lion King remake particularly.
Are the success of Soundtracks due to low sales these days or have they always been a huge success? The late 50s saw a big boom in them and I imagine album sales were low then too?

Yes Aladdin and especially The Lion King are bound to do some damage to the charts. Wouldn't be surprised to see either Can You Feel The Love or Circle Of Life top the chart even given the huge nostalgia factor (as well as the names involved).

If Rocketman (Elton John biopic) gets a soundtrack, I could see that one doing well too!

can people go back to buying albums and

stop with the soundtrack nonsense :D

Giving this a bump seeing as the 2018 one is starting to get 2019 predictions. Just over a week until the new year so get your predictions in!
Have one big hit then struggle to get any follow up hits excluding one big feature??

I think it's likely for Ava Max to at least get a second hit at this point though, 'Sweet But Psycho' has been bigger than 'Issues'.

i think the phrase for that is “one-hit wonder”, I just thought he meant the follow-up would be shit

I can see Ava doing a Mike Posner rather than a Julia Michaels: one huge hit (SBP), one minor follow-up hit and then nothing else onwards. Sweet But Psycho would set Ava up well but I don’t think her follow-up would have the same momentum.

Lady Gaga will have another #1 hit

Not sure about #1, but if she has a great song that might be a little more generic pop/MOR then I think she has an excellent chance of scoring a mainstream hit again.

Justin Bieber surely to return next year along with Adele, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd? Can't see Drake not popping up with something too.

Personally I am expecting quite a few more 'surprise' releases from the bigger artists as as long as the song is good, the marketing and social media goes through the roof far quicker than a traditional 'tease' release usually done by a lot of artists.
