I think you've ignored the counter arguments in the topic. Mariah would only have been ahead by 1k without ACR, that's hardly comfortable and in other years, the competition could quite easily be greater. She was no threat to Ed last year and was only #2 for a single week too thanks to Wham!'s popularity after the campaign. Some years I'm sure she'd get to #1 again, of course, but let's not pretend it would be a dead cert every year.

 

With ACR, she ended up 27k behind Ari. That's a crazy deficit and one that won't be made up so easily, even with Ari's video effect wearing off. It's not going to make #1 this year, and only because of ACR. The genuine most popular song of the week doesn't get a chance to be represented as such, and it's a shame that a classic hit can't achieve that accolade of reaching #1 24 years after release!

As I've said before Mariahs best shot at no1 this year is the week ending 4/1/19 when she will have the normal big weekend streams plus continued(even higher) streams on Monday/Tuesday with Xmas eve/day falling. But even then Boxing Day streams will drop from 1m to around 200k plus thursdays apx streams - it could do it but still unlikely so far depending on where Arianas are by then.
