Why would a little mix track that the fans have all known for months make the top 200 without any Hot Hits or NMF?

Because their fans would want to hear the 'new' version.

This era from Little Mix has shown that Syco were actually doing a great job with them.

Nina Nesbitt says hi :D jajajhajha

the biggest example of payola was recently when Lewis Capaldi got Grace replaced by Someone you loved at the same position on HH,

1000% dictated by the label

People who think labels don't have huge influence over playlists and do deals with Spotify are very naive.

Ariana falling rather quickly in terms of streams, down 150k on just a few days ago.

RE: Labels paying for NMF

My brother manages a smallish band who have had a song on NMF (near the bottom). He says Spotify choose, he or the label didn't have any involvement.

It's probably different for 'big' artists, but it's definitely not all payed for.

sure it's a mix, but some times it's beyond obvious

It's mostly Spotify, as explained to you about 1000 times before.

dua added to Hot Hits now.

I actually see more examples of payola than non-payola

but also admit theres a mix and some songs are added naturally

You can tell Spotify chooses by the people who do their live sessions who normally appear high on playlists like NMF.

I literally know people who work at labels who deal with this kind of thing, and labels get very little say

Ariana falling fairly quickly, though still well ahead of Ava. Looks like Alec Benjamin may actually be happening now too, and not even the new Alessia version.

I don't understand how you can conclude something is payola just like that...? Spotify add songs to their playlists that they think will get a lot of plays, so they earn more money from it. The reason they add Nina Nesbitt will be because she's a safe bet of an artist that people will enjoy (basic, generic and accessible). The reason they don't add many obscure songs and indie tracks is 'cause it'll make them less money.

This J. Cole track seems to be holding up fairly well so far, coming to be his first proper hit single?
It looks as though "7 rings" is going to fade away faster than "thank you, next". Good.
