Not in the Top 50 anyway! Mind you Ladbaby only got to 59 last week, and didn't make the Top 50 this week!

Is the Irish Top 100 no more? Are we downgraded to Top 50 going forward now?

That's something like 4 times in 5 weeks that IRMA haven't bothered to update their website, though at least the first 2 weeks were added later. I'm hoping that the latest failures are just down to the Christmas holidays. Unfortunately it is practically impossible to contact them.
No year end charts ?

The charts were finally added to the IRMA website on Monday! Before I got them added to my spreadsheet the terrible news came through yesterday morning that Larry Gogan had died. As many of you will know Larry was the voice of the Irish charts for many years. He was also the first voice to be heard on RTE Radio 2 (now 2FM) when it launched in May 1979 and he remained at the station until the end of January last year when he moved to the digital station RTE Gold. A pretty amazing track record for someone in their 80's.

So here are the final charts of 2019!

Larry At Lunchtime Links

No regular shows on RTE Gold during the week beginning 23rd December. And as we now know there won't be any new shows from Larry. It appears that one of the last Classic Countdown shows he recorded (in mid November) will be broadcast this Friday at 1pm as his funeral is due to begin.

No year end charts ?

Nothing official though we can expect to see something on the OCC or IRMA sites at some point! In the meantime I'm going to repost this which UKMix member CZB posted on 27th December.

I can still only see the RTE Gold schedules for three days ahead, and unless there is a Classic Countdown as

usual on Friday, Larry doesn't seem to be on at all in in this Christmas week.

In the absence of a year-end chart on 2FM, I wondered if Louise would be doing anything of this kind on

the Irish-language syndicated show that replaced "Top 40 Oifiguil na hEireann" half-way through 2019.

(Incidentally, I found references online to that show going as far back as 2007, so it was clearly aired for

over a decade!) Yesterday, Beat102-103, Spin South West and Spin 1038 had a new weekly chart (although

not a new opening "Top Five Of Last Week" segment, the previous one was repeated in error) and Raidio

Ri Ra's daily transmission was still the previous week's. (And I still have no idea who compiles this chart or

how - it bears a slight resemblance to the official one, but older songs tend to hang around longer).

Tonight, however, they aired what, if I understood enough of the Irish intro, purported to be Ireland's.....

This should be repeated on Raidio Ri Ra at 6pm or 8pm every day for a while - maybe any Irish speakers

may be better able to understand the basis of compilation (or indeed how "official" it is?) by listening to the

introduction.....

Great to see Hozier top 10 in his home countries decade sellers.

Lewis Capaldi leads Ireland's Official Top 50 biggest songs of 2019.

The Scottish singer's breakthrough single Someone You Loved was the most popular track with the Irish public last year when downloads, audio streams and video plays were combined, notching up a combined 26.8 million streams (audio and video). The song was the most downloaded of 2019, while it notched up five million more streams than its closest competitor. Someone You Loved spent six weeks atop the Official Irish Singles Chart across March and April, the first of three chart toppers for Lewis in 2019, more than any other act. Lewis has more songs in the end of year countdown than any other artist, with four. Other tracks from him include Hold Me While You Wait (13), Bruises (19) and Grace (21).

2019 saw music consumption grow further year-on-year, with streaming continuing its upward trajectory. A staggering 7.5 billion audio streams were logged in Ireland last year, a 37% growth compared to 2018.

Lil Nas X takes top honours for the biggest debut single of the year. Old Town Road was the second most popular song, racking up a combined 21.3 million audio and video plays. The US rapper managed four weeks at Number 1.

Billie Eilish scored the biggest song of the year not to reach Number 1. Bad Guy ended the year overall in third place, with 18 million streams. Bad Guy spent six non-consecutive weeks at Number 2.

Tones and I's Dance Monkey was the fourth biggest song of the year, and the most downloaded by a female artist, while Dermot Kennedy's Outnumbered lands in fifth, and was the biggest song of the year by an Irish artist.

Dominic Fike’s smash hit 3 Nights lands in sixth, while 2018 chart topper Shallow by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper rounds out 2019 in seventh place with the most streamed video of the year. 2019 Number 1s I Don't Care by Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber (8), Ariana Grande's 7 Rings (9) and the year's longest-reigning chart topper Senorita by Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello (10) all feature in the year-end Top 10.

In his breakthrough year, Lewis Capaldi has claimed Ireland's biggest album of 2019.

The fastest-selling album of the year by an international male soloist, Lewis' debut record Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent was the biggest on Irish soil in 2019, notching up 45,000 overall chart sales (physical, download and streaming). The album was the most streamed of the year and the only released in 2019 to feature a trio of Number 1 singles.

Some 7.28 million album equivalent sales in were recorded in Ireland across physical, digital and streaming in 2019, up 10% from 2018.

Ireland's most popular album of 2018 ranks in second place for 2019 - The Greatest Showman's Motion Picture Cast Recording was the most physically and digitally purchased album in 2019, two years after its December 2017 release.

Billie Eilish collects 2019's biggest album by a female artist with When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? in third, while the longest-reigning Number 1 of the year Dermot Kennedy's Without Fear lands in fourth and is the biggest album by an Irish act. Dermot spent seven non-consecutive weeks at the top of the Official Albums Chart.

Ed Sheeran's No.6 Collaborations Project is in fifth, while fellow chart-topping album Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande is sixth.

Dermot Kennedy's self-titled collection (a prelude to his debut album) finished the year at 11, Picture This claim the biggest album by an Irish group at 12 with MDRN LV, and the year's fastest-selling album Spectrum from Westlife ranks at 14. Other 2019 releases in the Top 50 by Irish acts include Hozier's Wasteland, Baby! at 17, Magic Nights by Christy Moore at 32, and The Script's Sunsets & Full Moons at 43.

2019 was a solid year for Irish music, with a three-fold increase in the number of homegrown artists reaching Number 1 on the Official Irish Albums Chart.

One of those chart toppers was Dermot Kennedy, whose debut album Without Fear was the biggest Irish album of the year. Without Fear was also the fastest-selling album of the year by an Irish soloist, the biggest vinyl seller by a domestic act, and spent more weeks at the helm than any other album, homegrown or international. The good news doesn't stop there for the Rathcoole singer. Released in January 2019, Dermot's 'self-titled collection', a prelude to his debut studio effort featuring material from previous EPs, also performed well, and was 2019's second biggest record by an Irish act.

In all, six Irish acts reached the summit of the Albums Top 50 in 2019, up from just two acts that managed a Number 1 in 2018. Another of those chart-topping acts is Picture This. Their second studio album MDRN LV was the third biggest album of the year, giving them top honours for an Irish group.

Westlife claimed 2019's fastest-selling album with Spectrum, and despite being released in November, managed huge sales, enough to rank them fourth on the year-end rundown. Hozier's second consecutive Number 1 album Wasteland, Baby! rounds out the Top 5 at Number 5.

Big seller in the latter quarter of the year, Christy Moore's live album Magic Nights is sixth, the Official Irish Chart Act of the Decade The Script finish in seventh with their sixth Number 1 album Sunsets & Full Moons, and Walking on Cars' Top 3 effort Colours is eighth

The best-selling homegrown group on vinyl, Fontaines D.C. rank ninth with their debut effort Dogrel, and The Cranberries' farewell album In The End - which peaked at Number 3 in May - concludes the Top 10.

Dermot Kennedy also dominates the year's biggest songs by Irish acts. Outnumbered - which has spent 27 non-consecutive weeks at Number 1 on the Official Irish Homegrown Chart - is to no surprise the biggest domestic track of 2019. Outnumbered was streamed 12.9 million times last year.

Westlife claim the most downloaded track by an Irish act with their comeback single Hello My Love at 2, while Dermot Kennedy is back again to complete the Top 3 with Lost. Hozier's Almost (Sweet Music) (4) and the first ever Homegrown Chart Number 1 Prefontaine by Versatile (5) round out the Top 5.

Niall Horan appears twice on the Top 10 list. Homegrown Chart Number 1 Nice To Meet Ya ranks sixth, while his Julia Michael collaboration What A Time ended 2019 in seventh.

Dublin four-piece Wild Youth occupy Number 8 with Making Me Dance, Westlife's Better Man is at Number 9, and Soulé claims 2019's biggest homegrown song by a female artist at Number 10 with Love Tonight ft. C Cane.
