They're only allowed to return to the chart if the artist tours or...dies. A peculiar effect of this is that the December influx can effectively sweep the chart clean. Because Post Malone's first album got pushed out, it's gone now even though it probably should be in the top 20, but Six60's 4 year old album is safe for another year. At least there's no living in fear of "Perfect" re-entering now :P Great to see Bene doing so well, ending Six60's half year reign as the #1 NZ single! Amazing how far a song can go when the chart company acknowledge it <_<

Billie Eilish scores a fourth top 10 hit, and Khalid lands yet another song in the top 40. On the albums chart, Ariana now has the longest-running #1 album by a solo female artist since Adele's 25 had 15 weeks at #1. Bryan Adams gets a big boost to #2, so it's now his highest charting album since So Far So Good went to #1 in 1993. Juice Wrld easily beats the #17 peak of Goodbye And Good Riddance, Dido has her lowest-charting album to date (Girl Who Got Away peaked at #11 in 2013), as do Foals, falling way short of What Went Down's #5 peak in 2015.

It's actually the second #1 for Billy Ray Cyrus, as 'Achy Breaky Heart' spent six weeks at #1 in 1992. It didn't even get to #1 in America! As for the other Billie, this is poor timing for 'bad guy' but at least it got a week at #1, plus she gets two more chart entries just outside the top 20. Further down, Blackpink get their first entry on their own ('Kiss And Make Up' peaked at #32 last year), and Alec Benjamin gets his first altogether. On the album chart it's Khalid with the bad luck, releasing the week after Billie Eilish was going to cost him. He does at least improve on the #5 peak of American Teen and the #2 peak of Suncity. The only other debut comes from Blackpink with presumably the first female K-pop album to make the top 10. BTS have already done it twice and are bound to do so again next week.

BTS have the highest new entry; 'Boy With Luv' is their second chart appearance, the first being 'Fake Love' which peaked at #35. They also claim the #1 album (ending Billie Eilish's three-week run), their previous best being Love Yourself: Tear which peaked at #5 in May. Oddly the one after that (Love Yourself: Answer) peaked at #11 in September when they've otherwise been increasing in popularity, but it also has BTS' longest chart run to date and even re-enters this week. Avicii earns his first posthumous new entry, first overall since 'Lonely Together' peaked at #34, and first top 20 hit since 'Waiting For Love' peaked at #15. It's Aloe Blacc's first new entry since 'The Man' peaked at #5.
