I know it's not going to happen, but I love the idea of a Eurovision audience just being stunned into silence by some insane high-energy instrumental techno anthem of Sandstorm levels :P The dance version of Hungary's song last year when few in the audience knew what the hell was going on.

I take it this is the entry then? Unless he has a few to choose from.

It's definitely underwhelming, but I wasn't expecting him to go full on trance for Eurovision anyway. Will probably grow on me though.

IIRC He’s releasing 3 songs and I believe the public (in Finland ofc) vote for their fave song of the 3, then the winner is the song that gets sent!

Yeah, that's how they've done it in Finland for a couple of years now - or just last year, it feels like longer, which has the unfortunate effect of killing UMK as a mini Melfest but the fortunate effect of so far, mostly choosing well.

The thing with an artist like Darude that has been concerning me is that he is rarely improved by vocals and is often actively sabotaged by them distracting from his technical work, unless they're something special themselves, and Eurovision sadly doesn't do instrumentals, there was enough 'controversy' when Nocturne won.

And given this Sebastian guy is certainly not in the 'something special in the vocals' box case and he IS singing on all of them (correct?), I'd be pleasantly surprised if any of them weren't dull crap like that Release Me song.

That's about as exciting as the generic EDM offering from Poland last year, ie not at all.

OMG THAT SECOND DROP *.*

This reaction is exactly what I expected when I saw the name. His reputation combined with what is expected out of Eurovision is gonna work against him.

Quite liked that on first listen though it’s not what I wanted from Darude. I was expecting something Alesso-like tbf.

Nothing was going to come close to Saara but I definitely prefer this one to "Release Me", at least it doesn't sound like it's about to break into Agnes before he remembers that Eurovision doesn't allow samples and we're left feeling robbed of that banger.

The third and final song, “Look Away”, is now available.

“Superman” is BY FAR AND AWAY my choice to win this. You got it right last year Finland, let’s see if you can keep it up.
