I'd have thought Dave would be much higher on Spotify and iTunes given how big FF was.

Even the tracks with Headie One and Fredo were higher.

The new Dave track is one of his more serious songs which don't do as well (see also Hangman underperforming after the big hit No Words). I thought it'd be higher too (not anywhere near #1 but closer to the top 20) but that explains it.

Hope she does well on streaming with this decent track

I know it was pretty high on NMF and will suddenly disappear but that's a great debut for Martin Garrix and Bonn!

I was expecting to do an Offset album update too but he isn't doing too well, only three tracks are in the top 200. That makes all three solo Migos projects having underperformed, they're better off sticking together.

Funky Friday had terrible silly adolescent lyrics and that was massive, maybe thats what urban fans want

You've basically described the charts there lol

Breathe reaching a new peak. And is that Giants highest streaming figure yet?

As opposed to the HIGHLY intelligent and insightful lyrics found in all these other rural songs in the chart, of course.

I'm not surprised at all that the Migos solo albums have underperformed, I don't think even Migos fans want to hear solo songs by any of them. Offset is the most capable of the three at carrying a song without the other two but it's still not the same.

Yasss at Kehlani entering with 'Nunya' and back in the Top 40 with 'Nights Like This'
of course there's idiotic lyrics in pop too, but every now and then there's some song with great lyrics (Lewis Capaldi - Someone you loved, Freya Ridings - Lost without you), which I don't see in urban hits

I can easily cherrypick 2 current hip-hop hits which have some more serious lyrical themes as well, say 'MIDDLE CHILD' and 'a lot'. If you look past the biggest mainstream hits I'm pretty sure hip-hop has vastly more to offer lyrically than pop does.

The biggest mainstream hits of all genres are generally going to be dumbed down lowest common denominator songs with no depth or great meaning to them (and that's not inherently a bad thing because music doesn't need to be about that). If you want a genre that really has almost nothing to offer lyrically look at dance music.

I'd love to see you try and write a track with better lyrics than "Funky Friday" - Dave's wordplay is very clever and slick, I don't see what's "silly" and "adolescent" about it? If anything, "Someone You Loved" is adolescent for pandering to that cliche heartbreak style lol
