I’ve seen the first episode and it’s...... definitely NOT where I was expecting/hoping the show would go.

 

Nervous but I’m hoping it will soon pay off

i don't think most of my comments warrant a spoiler tag because it's just my impression. so please be aware. sometimes reading someone else's impression and opinion about the whole thing, especially a negative one, paints a bad picture. but my opinion is wildly positive so all good x

 

The second season was weird AF but it doesn't make it less AMAZING. More questions, significantly less answers.

The house, the puzzle - what's the meaning of that? why include it at all? I found it a bit complicated oops. The octopus! Was it just to establish Nina's abilities? The guardian, the french woman, who sent them?!? What happened to Rachel? She's obviously not dead. Did Steve save Jesse?! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh

 

With everyone separated AND the introduction of a new character we got like what... 3 main storylines?? So it could've used more airtime especially since we could go 2 episodes without featuring OA once! That ending though...!!!

 

 

I feel the first season worked as a rather conventional set up for this allegedly 5-season arc but now things are getting truly weird and unpredictable. I will really need to rewatch this in a few months time because there was so much going on (especially with the house thing) and I feel I missed a lot of details.

I’ve watched 3 episodes so far and I’m bored af. The first series was excellent.

I enjoyed the first episode, still not giving us a lot of answers at all but I guess we're not gonna get that for a long time, but I'm intrigued where these two storylines go and how they'll cross over.

I really enjoyed the first two episodes, I found the pace a little slow at places but I was never bored. It's not a show I can binge easily, I think it requires full attention and after a full episode I need to digest what's actually happened :lol:

I've finished it too... I'm just not sure what to post about it! It was weird, almost like a different show but I did enjoy it and found it really intriguing... the house/game storyline in particular but I'm sort of wondering if

that's all going to end up being pointless now given the ending and each series will be set in a different life?

I found the kids' storyline to be the weakest though, I could have done with less of that - especially with the method of largely focusing on one storyline per episode.

The first season was miles better, I genuinely have no idea what the hell is going on, time for some Wikipedia methinks.

 

Can someone explain the whole tree thing to me? I kinda got the Octopus to a point, but by God that was messed up.

I thought the tree thing was the same as the octopus... I don't think it matters what vessel is being used, the point was that OA/Nina is the translator and can tap into it... I suspect they chose those things solely because they have similar tentacles/branches so that the viewer can link the two.

Yeah I got that, but I still don't get the point of it? The whole NDE thing from last season was basically rendered useless.

NDE is the basis for the whole plot though. It's what allowed them to receive the moves and travel through dimensions. Now it's obviously irrelevant as they got the moves so unless they find another way to incorporate it the whole idea will probably be left behind.

 

Also they planned the whole thing for 3 more seasons. So I'd refrain from looking for any reasons and answers until at least end of season 4. This is only getting started :lol: And I LOVE that *.*

also the fourth wall being broken at the end still has me so shook (i was so not tuned in to the significance of their new names in this dimension for like a solid 24 hourslol)

I can SORT of follow the parallel dimension things but I have no idea what is going on with the house and how that relates to the main plot. At this point, it just seems it was there for the purpose of adding another mystery. Unless that’s the centre point of all the dimensions. Is it a different way to travel between dimensions? Are you able to view different dimensions from the window??

 

I started off being quite.. unhappy about the direction it was taking with the whole parallel dimension thing but with that ending I’m now really intrigued, especially as the kids are a lot more connected with the main storyline than we originally thought

ugh this has been axed so I’m now officially declaring Netflix to be cancelled :(

 

they’ve really made some bad decisions over the last couple of years when they used to be a ‘network’ that gave shows chances and allowed them to tell their stories.

 

after THAT cliffhanger, I don’t know how you can cancel it now :(

As expected, sadly. Netflix’s reign as the best in niche TV is over as quickly as it began.

I think Sex Education is the only new Netflix original drama series I’ve watched this year

 

The rest have been returning shows that have now been axed/are ending naturally. Oh, apart from Black Mirror and Stranger Things too oops

Gutted. Watched this all the other week and was looking forward to more.

 

Shame they can’t at least do a movie or something to get closure. ☹️
