Analysis

 

Delta…finds her way back into the album chart with the best album ever Innocent Eyes which holds the record of a 16 week no.1 run…it comes back in at No.9 thanks to a deluxe edition!!! Fellow Australian star Missy Higgins is also back in with The Sound of White…In a chart full of slips there’s good news for Girls Aloud who re-enter the top 10 with Chemistry!!! Shakira and Mash Up Mix 2006 fall while Kelly Clarkson spends a 37th week in the top 10 and oddly a 10th week in 6th position…The Cardigans move into the top 5 with Super Extra Gravity while Sugababes and Corinne Bailey Rae keep No.4 and No.3 respectively…The Veronicas fall from No.1 this week which means that returning for a 3rd time to the top and for a 6th week in total is American Idol Carrie Underwood with Some Hearts!!!

 

The singles chart has just two new entries, the first from Danish dance act Infernal whose Europop hit From Paris to Berlin is new at No.15!!! The Cardigans debut in 6th place with Don’t Blame Your Daughter, their best charting hit since 1999!!! Natasha Thomas and Joey Negro are the big losers with the former plummeting from No.5 to No.13…Corinne Bailey Rae joins her in leaving the top 10 with Butterfly…elsewhere outside the top 10, Shakira, Girls Aloud and Carrie Underwood have climbers…The Veronicas begin the top 10, sliding from No.3 with When it all falls apart, while Carrie sticks at No.9 on her 6th top 10 week with ‘…Checotah…’. Former No.1’s from The Veronicas and Corinne dip a place each, both adding to impressive top 10 runs of 11 and 8 weeks respectively!!!

 

The Veronicas reach a new peak with Secret at No.5 while Carrie Underwood slides to No.4 on her 10th week in the top 5 with Jesus Take The Wheel. US Male duo Gnarls Barkley climb to No.3 with Crazy while UK band Embrace shoot to No.2 with Nature’s Law which means that Delta Goodrem scores a second week at the top with Together we are one, oddly becoming the 5th song of 2006 in a row to have a fortnight in control…

The singles chart is set for some huge changes this week as Delta has an extremely tough battle to stay at the top for a third week as Embrace, Gnarls Barkley and newcomer Nerina Pallot look set to put up quite a fight...

 

The album chart will see new entries from Nerina and Daft Punk but can either of these dethrone Carrie Underwood who has been at No.1 for 6 weeks in total...
