Posted April 10, 20196 yr View this post on Instagram The teaser is set to Billie Eilish’s debut single, “Six Feet Under”—a timely choice, given the recent release of her smash-hit new album—and embodies the spirit of many slasher films of the 1980s. In particular, the teaser seems to be aping Friday the 13th, with shots of a distressed young woman running from a masked assailant through the woods and taking refuge in a cabin. The masked pursuer, of course, stabs a knife through the door. Friday the 13th debuted in 1980, with Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter bowing in 1984. (Despite the purported finality of the title, the franchise has seen eight more films release since then.) The year 1984 was unusually prolific for memorable horror films, with debuts including A Nightmare on Elm Street, Children of the Corn, Silent Night, Deadly Night, Firestarter, and the cult classic C.H.U.D., which influenced Jordan Peele’s Us. Murphy and his collaborator, Brad Falchuk, have long infused their horror anthology with references to the classics—and with a title like American Horror Story: 1984, it seems almost certain we’ll get another season packed with allusions. Although Murphy has played things characteristically close to the vest when it comes to A.H.S. Season 9, we do know a couple of things about the upcoming season already. For the first time in franchise history, Evan Peters has said he is sitting this season out, while his ex-fiancée, Emma Roberts, is confirmed as part of the cast. (There is no indication, however, that the decision was connected to their split; Peters has, in fact, said in the past that playing a parade of dark characters on A.H.S. has been “exhausting” for him.) Sarah Paulson, the franchise’s other stalwart, is expected to return, although her casting has not been officially confirmed.
April 10, 20196 yr Author looks like it will be full on slasher vibes although slightly disappointed it's not going to be the dystopian vibes the title suggests on first look :(
April 10, 20196 yr My thoughts exactly! With a title like that, how can you NOT reference Orwell?! Though I am a big fan of 80s Horror/slasher fare myself, so this is already far more interesting than the concept for the last season was, I MAY give this a go this time (I swear there is not another show right now I'm so hot and cold with :'))
April 10, 20196 yr idk about you guys but I’m ready to expect the unexpected also NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET REFERENCE I’M SO DOWN
April 12, 20196 yr Depends, what episode did you stop watching at? As per usual Ryan Murphy style it dropped off a cliff around halfway through. Still entertaining but wow what a waste of so much potential in basically every storyline. Return To Murder House could’ve gone down as one of the best AHS episode ever if not for that entire plot line being rewritten/removed by Mallory going back in time to hit & run the antichrist
April 12, 20196 yr I think I gave up around that episode actually! I can't really remember, it started off strong but got really mundane and boring :(. I actually really liked Roanoke and Cult as well.
April 12, 20196 yr I'm excited about this one. I'm hoping it's a proper scary slasher series instead of going down the campfest twist-riddled route, which is sadly Murphy's brand. We've already had Scream Queens. I enjoyed Apocalypse while it was on but have absolutely no desire to watch it again anytime soon. Ranking klaxon! 1. Asylum 2. Roanoke 3. Coven 4. Murder House 5. Freakshow 6. Cult 7. Hotel 8. Apocalypse
April 12, 20196 yr Author i'm gonna stop any ranks in here NOW because i was going to open a new thread!!!
July 8, 20196 yr Sarah Paulson WON'T be in this series according to @ahsleak No Evan and now no Sarah? Cancel it Edited July 8, 20196 yr by Jαsє
July 14, 20196 yr I think Evan just wants a break and all Sarah had to say about it when she was asked back in April was: "I think all I can say is I know the least about this season upcoming that I've known about any season. I don't even know...yeah, that's all I can say. Usually, I have more information at this point, and I'm bugging Ryan Myrphy with questions. Right now, I don't have a lot and yeah, I'm so busy with Ratched, it's hard for me to think about anything beyond that."
July 14, 20196 yr hmmm that sounds like it wasn't her decision to step this one out? :( i presumed she was just double booked or something but ahs is the first thing that comes to mind when u mention sarah paulson so its gonna really be missing a lot without her - i don't have much motivation to watch it still if im honest
August 9, 20195 yr https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a2865745...it-future-1984/ A good article on the future of the show! It sounds like Sarah's probably going to be too busy for the foreseeable :(
