9TH= VALTTERI BOTTAS

6 (7, 6, 6, 5)

solid driver but you'd never back him in close wheel-to-wheel racing against similar peforming cars
great driver in a great car but he's so dull i barely know anything about him.

He's quick but not a championship contender
Solid number 2. The David Coulthard of his generation

a bit overrated for me, kinda there to make up the numbers these days skirting around average teams
i want him in a better team

Likable driver, above average. McLaren a wrong choice?
Decent. Likeable driver. Above average driver

7TH- LANDO NORRIS

7 (8, 7, 7, 6)

early days but that drive in bahrain was certainly an eye-catcher, potential to be a real class talent
looking forward to his story /what he can do

Early days, looks capable.
How do you give a rating for someone who's only started 3 races? Positive start so have a 6

Norris being top 10 shows just how poor the grid is right now. Nothing against him but if drivers with years of experience and point scoring results are rated lower than a guy who has barely driven any races at all - let alone anywhere near the front... it's a damning indictment of the current crop.

And Bottas should be higher - he's much improved this year. Still pretty average but much improved

6TH: SEBASTIAN VETTEL

7.25 (8. 7, 7, 7)

past his best now but still capable of the odd top drive - getting outperformed by a relative rookie once again though
a fav but time to retire soon no?

On his day, he's good but he is capable of another world title?
Like Hamilton is now, he used to be great when in front. Questionable under pressure. Overrated and past his best. Capable on his day. Legacy flattered by dominant cars.
His 6th place in Bahrain inflated his score due to the recency factor.

I get that, but it's massively premature. And if people are getting excited over one decent race it reflects just how little excitement the others drivers raise

still got that amazing talent in him as seen by austin last year, great to see him stick around even if further down the grid
a legend

Still got talent, seems to be enjoying himself at the swansong of his career.
Many years ago this might have been a 10. With his legacy it would be a 10. His personality would be an 11. But sadly his brilliance has faded recently.

going through a rough patch right now & won't be challenging for podiums again soon but the talent is unmaskable
needs a better car and team immediately. a wasted talent alongside ocon

When he has a quick car, he is capable of getting wins. I hope it will all come to fruition at Renault sometime soon in the next couple of years.
One of the best out there. Feels like Red Bull favoured quickly Verstappen and that cost him despite his clear talent. Needs a swift move away from Renault to revive career

driver who you get excited for in close combat, far less error-prone & overperforming in an average car
one of the few current drivers that truly excites me. you can always rely on him going to gold even when it looks out of the question. like severin said tho, too many errors. but they get far outweighed by his sheer courage to just push the limits.

Quick but still makes that mistake at a crucial time. World Champion? I'm not sure he will be.
The most exciting driver out there and were he in a Mercedes he'd be a tough challenge for Hamilton. Too many errors still

2ND: CHARLES LECLERC

9.5 (10, 10, 10, 8)

not seen anything yet to suggest this guy ain't the real deal, surely set for dizzying heights once ferrari stop sabotaging him
one of the best first seasons i know of so far at least..? a rookie making it all look so easy. can't wait to see his progression and inevitable championship win next yr / 2021 / when lewis retires

One of my favourite drivers. I'm sure a first win isn't far away. A future World Champion.
Still too early to say but has real potential and a natural talent. Can currently be found destroying Vettel's reputation

And the winner is.......

1ST: LEWIS HAMILTON

9.5 (11, 11, 11, 5) [by vitue of a higher number compared to Leclerc's]

best car best car yada yada (not even the case sometimes) he is the don of the grid, untouchable at his best
love to hate him. questionable actions off the grid but in the car he's untouchable.

Not a fan of him. But he can be untouchable when he has the quickest car
Best at qualifying and once in front. Questionable under pressure. Just makes top 20 all time despite 5 titles - Beaten by Button/Rosberg in equal cars weakens his claims as the best

So your winner is Lewis Hamilton.

I wish to thank everyone who contributed to this rate. I hope you have enjoyed the countdown so much as I have.

Look out soon in July time, for another rate where we will have our Buzzjack's Best Grand Prix where you will nominate your favourite Grand Prix's. It will be some task. But I hope you can join me in that. Many thanks. :)

can't really argue with that top 5. solid start for leclerc and a future championship winner i'm sure.

i really want 2014 ricciardo back. or at least 2019 ricciardo in a better car. i'd love to see how he'd fare in a merc or ferrari but i guess that could be said for everyone.. (i'd love to see a one off race like the new w series where they all have the same car and it's all just down to skill and strategy)

deserved win for hamilton. say what you want about him (and i definitely will) but he really is one of the greatest.

and thanks a lot for hosting this mack. great job, really enjoyed it. looking forward to the best grand prix rate!

Yes, there won't be a driver like Lewis Hamilton, I don't think in the next fifteen years or so. Never did I see anyone getting near the records of Schumacher or the most pole positions that record may never been broken.

Hamilton only a 5? Are we watching the same sport or? Also there's no shame in being beaten by Button ^_^ (and everyone knows the Rosberg title was ridiculous luck)

I do wonder if my rating for Leclerc was a little premature too but I've no doubt right now he's a better driver than Vettel who's a 4-time champion so...

Probably the correct top 2 & not too much else I'd change overall.

Thanks for running this Mack, hopefully we get a little more participation for the next event!

Lewis is of course a worthy winner but I'll still argue there's no real competition for him right now. With 2013 marking the last time any other top driver could actually compete on an almost level field car-wise, and the grid containing so few genuine talents for years now, his record will always flatter to deceive

Well done for hosting this though. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and really look forward to best GP thing

Hamilton is no stranger to lucky wins either

Hamilton is no stranger to lucky wins either

Of course but by the same token he could be on 8 titles by now! As well as the aforementioned 2016 he was extremely close to winning in his debut season and could have sneaked it in 2010 as well (I recall him being taken out by webber at Singapore that year which massively dented his hopes).

Obviously he has the best car but didn't Schumacher for all those years at Ferrari too? Senna at McLaren, prost at Williams etc. etc.I always consider Fangio the GOAT myself, 4 consecutive titles in 4 different cars in the 50s era, that is the stuff of legends.
