Isn't Keiino a temporary thing? They only started last year together, and they're all solo musicians .

I know, that's why I said. They said they're going to stick together through the summer and see what happens. If they chart all over Europe now hopefully it might convince them to do more stuff.

This tweet made me laugh.. remember the early 2000s when novelty Europop songs regularly got into the top 10 purely on the strength of plays on The Box?

@leethommo The more I hear that Norwegian contender, the more it reminds me of something that Matt & Cris at AATW would have flung at me when I was at The Box in about 2003, and we would have single-handedly made it a straight-in-at-number-one smash nine weeks later.

Great for Keiino and Duncan, in previous years I’d have ranted that they are clearly popular songs that need to be added to Hot Hits UK so that they can live up to their commercial potential.

But I’ve now come to terms with the fact that such a thing would never happen in this country. And with the elitist attitudes towards the contest and its by products shown by the UK music industry, it’s little wonder we keep doing so badly (among many other reasons, like the fact that we seem unable to ever send an above average song...)

Those were the days. Come thru Basshunter, Scooter etc.

The Eurovision entries are now showing their first signs of retreat, incredibly Spirit in the Sky is still #4 and #54!
I had feared keiino would drop but it has held steady and hopefully can remain top 10 for today at least, the second version will help its chances of charting officially.

when was the last European hit that crossed over to the UK?

miss the days when Euro-pop-dance acts like Technotronic, Black Box, Vengaboys, 2 Unlimited, etc they could have like 6/7 hits in a row in the UK, basically repeating the same formula again and again...

maybe Basshunter or Scooter were the last EU act with multiple UK hits?

It was a better time, although I can only imagine how much you banged on endlessly about how the songs would have been catered for 7-year-olds.

In My Mind and Faded by Alan Walker are probably the biggest most recent ones.

Not forgetting Nevermind by an Israeli.

But not talking about hits by foreigners, talking about

Euro-hits that crossed to Europe

The biggest recent one, although not dancepop, might be

7 years by Lukas Graham
