November 9, 200618 yr Author Because I think when a CD leaves the Distributor (eg EMI) and is bought by the Supplier ( eg HMV) it is counted as 'Sold'. At least as far as the Distributor is concerned. EMI/Robbie get their money when the CD is bought by HMV. HMV get their money when you or I toddle into their shop and buy a copy. If HMV have ordered 2 million copies of Rudebox, EMI sell them 2 million copies. So as far as EMI are concerned, 2 million copies of Rudebox have been sold. Which they have. Just not 'sold' to the general public. So if Rudebox had the biggest amount of pre-orders from Suppliers, it could well be the fastest selling album of the year. It's just all the copies are now sitting in the HMV Chairman's garage.
November 10, 200618 yr Robbie's 'Rudebox' holds top spot in Europe LONDON - An unchanged top three on European Top 100 Albums sees Robbie Williams start a second week at No. 1 with ''Rudebox'' (Chrysalis). It drops from 1 to 2 in the United Kingdom, where sales fell by two-thirds on an initial 147,000 to a second-week tally of 49,000. The album holds at No. 1 in Germany and Switzerland, climbs 4-2 in the Belgian region of Wallony and from 9 to 5 in Portugal and debuts at No. 2 in Sweden. It loses pole position in Italy, Finland, Denmark and Austria :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
