Posted November 10, 200618 yr Graham Poll Controversy Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has questioned referees' chief Keith Hackett over his decision to meet Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho. Hackett agreed to meet Mourinho over criticism of referee Graham Poll's handling of Sunday's game between Chelsea and Tottenham. Ferguson posed the question: "Does Hackett ever to go meet Arsene Wenger, or Rafa Benitez or this old guy here? "Is there preference going out to Chelsea? It seems ludicrous." Ferguson described Poll as the best referee in England. "That's why he gets the big games, because he's the best at making the big decisions," said the United manager. But Ferguson believes it may now be wrong to put Poll in charge of United's match against Chelsea at Old Trafford on 26 November. "I would like him in a way, but with all this controversy I don't know whether it would be a good thing. I'm fearing he gets the game with all the controversy about Chelsea," said Ferguson. Source: BBC Sport Same old Chelsea. Countless numbers of times this happens to all sorts of clubs and Chelsea couldn't give a damm. Now when something controversial happens to them they throw a huge paddy and make out there innocent and Poll is evil. I don't think that any other manager apart from Mourinho would go to such lenghts to make a point that he thinks Chelsea were hard done by. What Chelsea seem to forget is countless numbers of times the officals have saved Chelsea's backsides, I mean against Liverpool for example Tiago blanatnley (sp?) handled the ball in the box a couple of years ago and the ref turns a blind eye to it.
November 10, 200618 yr What about Shaun Wright-Phillips diving to get a Newcastle defender sent off, from when they scored from the free-kick. What about when Essien threw himself to the floor to pretend that he got punched in the face by Liverpool's Goalkeeper Reina. What about Frank Lampard scything two-footed in to the back of Liverpool's Alonso in the 2nd minute on New Year's Day 2005, putting the Spaniard out injured for the rest of the season. I could go on & on & on. Chelsea are the most despicable, bad tempered, cheating *******s in the history of Football, forever moaning at the injustice, when decisions do not go there way, yet they turn a blind eye, when they get dubious decisions going their way. I hate that club because they are KILLING football in England, by buying all the best players around, intimidating the FA and match officials in a manner that has never been seen before. If they were in the European Champions League Final, I would support their foreign opponents. (I'm a Liverpool supporter and I have supported Manchester Utd & Arsenal in the Final, but I would NEVER support Chelsea). ABC = Anyone But Chelsea all the way.

You've really summed up Chelsea there. :D A lot of managers complain when desicions go against them but Jose just takes it too far, I mean you'd think he's the only manager that gets annoyed when decisions go against him.

Brilliantly said, mate and you're 150% right about Chel-scum. If any team has a right to complain, it's poor Sunderland.. we always get $h!te refs :(
November 11, 200618 yr did anyone see Uriah Rennie book Southend keeper for having a stud replaced in the Carling Cup  what would he rather have him do, slip and yank out his ligaments <_< it's not like a keeper can leave the field of play like an outfield player
November 11, 200618 yr Author did anyone see Uriah Rennie book Southend keeper for having a stud replaced in the Carling Cup  what would he rather have him do, slip and yank out his ligaments <_< it's not like a keeper can leave the field of play like an outfield player Yeah I saw that. :( It was a stupid thing to do by him by the ref. More and more now though more focus is been given to refs (i'm pretty sure I heard on the radio Graham Poll was signing autographs before a game a week ago. ) and their becoming more and more famous as the weeks go on for all the wrong reasons.
November 11, 200618 yr Players should be encouraged to become refs when they retire even if it means upping the wages of refs (at the moment I think they get about a £100 match fee  ) and most have regular day jobs, I would like to see like happens in cricket where players become umpires and can use common sense as they played the game themselves

The players have all the knowledge and experience of playing in football so they can use that to influence a game and use there eperience to do so. The only problem I can see with that though is some players after they retire from football are sound with money for life so it wouldn't really be of great benefit for them to go and be a referee again.

Yeah you wouldn't get the internationals and top premiership players doing it etc but players from championship league 1 and 2 and so on could become very good referees in the future if they were encouraged and full time paid refs were bought in, players having played the game would have the common sense and judgement that the part time refs and full time butchers, bakers and candlestick makers don't have and I think that they would get more respect from the top players etc as the players would know that the ref had played pro football

November 12, 200618 yr I know it is annoying, we also haven't had 1 penelty for us this season. Us neither :( Sunderland continued their run of 3,569 consecutive league and cup games without a half decent ref when Mr K Friend (:kink:) shocked and appaulled the home fans with incredibly bad decisions, slow timing and inconsistent bookings. Annoyance-O-Meter:

[/quote/] sorry to say chelsea are not despicable and they not bad tempered but all teams are and they certinly don't cheat. but all teams try to do that. i need to ask you how are they killing football. well chlease have got the money to buy the playeres so you might as well spend it and get some decent playeres like all clubs do. well i would never support liverpool beucse they cheat as well. they just fake all the injuries. why would you support the foreign teams because you are suppose to support your country when they play the foregin teams. i really done't think you can sum chelsea up. it is only jelous because they are the best team. :cheer: Edited November 12, 200618 yr by Emma
November 13, 200618 yr Liverpool fake injuries? What an argument  Just about EVERYONE fakes injury to timewaste. Chelsea are the worst losers I've ever seen! If ever they lose it's not their fault. It's always the ref's or that the opposition cheated. The crowding of the ref and the diving of Robben and Drogba in virtually every game last season was a disgrace!
November 13, 200618 yr It's funny, me and my grandad were talking about this yesterday when we were watching the Weymouth vs Bury match. My grandad basically said the exact same thing as RabbitFurCoat (Who I agree 110% with). You've just got to laugh at Chelsea... seeing the players throw their toys out of the pram whenever they lose (or even draw) is hilarious  Fully grown, multi-million pound men taking temper tantrums like school kids? Priceless

No, not at all, but Chelsea are the worst offenders, imo. Chelsea also annoy me because there are a lot of younger kids in their fanbase, and these players are supposed to be setting an example toward them... diving and feigning injuries to get opposition team players sent off is not a good example to set I blame Moron-ho, personally -_-
