Lol, you should try listening to a sample before buyng something just because your friends are listening. It works. However, thanks for being one of those who helped this wonderfull album become the 15th biggest selling of all time in UK. You haven´t liked it, but 90% of the people who bought it thought it was good enough to buy the follow up.

Well I can listen to samples now. But not then. I only got a PC about 2 years ago and my local Asda doesn't have a CD listening facility I'm afraid. And that's the only place I can buy CDs without travelling about 20 miles. So for about 33 years I'd say about 50% of my purchases were based on recommendations. So I bought a fair number of CDs I didn't particularly like.

But I don't make as many mistakes now. Except for James Blunt. I bought that because I heard and loved 'Wisemen' before She's Beautiful was unleashed. But it turned out Wisemen was the only song on the album I liked. <_<

In other words, you stopped liking him because he got famous. Wisemen is no different from the rest of his material.

I actually like Wiseman as well and I know alot of people who only like that song. I bought the album when 'Your Beautiful' was released cause I liked it at the begining but it got so overplayed and turned me off. Anyway, the album all sounds the same to me. And his voice is extremly irritating imo, so personally I dont listen to his album for these reasons, not because he got 'Big' clearly. I mean most of the Bands/singers I like are 'huge sellers'. -_-

Yes. I stopped likely Robbie Williams when he got 'big'. Oh and U2. Oh and REM. Oh and Eminem. Oh and the Chili Peppers. I don't like any act who becomes successful. Oh no. Not me. -_-

This is wrong Charis,

Coldplay’s 6.3 million sales figure from the 2005 program included nearly all of X&Y’s sales for 2005. So you should’nt add X&Y’s sales to the 6.2 million figure.

Also, the 21st Century best sellers list is based on BIP certificates, not actual sales. For example, Robbie’s Escapology was certified 6x platinum (1.8 million) in March 2003, it has since sold well over 2 million but his record company has to apply for the BIP to update the certificate to 7x platinum. Same goes for Intensive Care. Almost 1.6 million sold but only certified 5x platinum (1.5 million)

So it only goes according to the BIP’s official certs. Coldplay’s X&Y has sold over 2.3 million as far, and is certified 8x platinum (2.4 million). Coldplay’s total certificates is 6.6 million since 2000 for their 3 studio albums. Westlife’s total is now 5.1 million according to the BIP site but if you include the Love album which has yet to be certified it would bring it to 6 million (20x platinum since 2000)

Robbie’s total based on certificates is 8.4 million. If you include all his albums since 2000 then it would beover 11 million (including the 2 million for his Greatest Hits)

The new list is.

1. Robbie Williams: 8.4m

2. Coldplay: 6.6m

3. Westlife: 6m

4. Dido: 5.7m
