There's a new #1 for the third week running as we welcome a stunning THIRTEEN new entries into the chart. Friendly Fires gain this week's highest entry, with Foals actually landing lower than I expected. As the new music playlist that this chart is built on speeds up its turnover, we say goodbye to a number of long-runners, three of which fall to their chart deaths from within the top 20. I previously said that I would only let one rework of a classic track in per week, but this rule is smashed to smithereens with new takes on Days Go By and Not Over Yet sensationally crashing into the chart - I have been spending more and more time listening to the kind of club music they play on R1's Party/Dance Anthems, and the amount of reworks, remixes, covers and heavily sample-based tracks aired on those shows is kind of phenomenal. It's not just dance acts taking inspiration from vintage classics this week, with the new Haim single giving Lou Reed a posthumous writing credit. There are also two new entries for Marika Hackman, who may seem a bit 6 Music for me but whose new material I have really been enjoying, and not just because of its filthy lyrics.
