Posted September 12, 20195 yr This leaked earlier today, the studio version of 'I Wanna Be With You' that she performed at iTunes fest in 2013 (otherwise known as 'Dope' from ARTPOP). Been listening to this all day, it's STUNNING. I dare say it's my favourite ballad she's ever done. How did they let this one get away? :(
September 12, 20195 yr I love Dope too, I find the lyrics here a bit boring, especially the "I wanna be with you" part... I think "I need you more than dope" is better? But still, great track!

September 12, 20195 yr Her vocals are airy and beautiful on this. The lyrics and delivery are a little clunky though - too many words, too little spacing between them. "I was born this way" the reference though - favourite part! :wub: the final minute too omg :cry: It's exactly the same and yet.. a totally different song!? I am not sure which I prefer, but I need to download this / have it on Spotify ~
September 12, 20195 yr I think both are really weak ballads. She literally changed the lyrics to the cringey dope ones to try and make it controversial to make up for the low quality. Not vintage GaGa.

September 12, 20195 yr Author I never really took to 'Dope', it just doesn't quite work for me. Whereas this properly hits me in the feels. How I wish they'd kept this instead. :(

At the time 'Dope' was actually one of my favourite tracks on 'ARTPOP' and I wanted 'I Wanna Be With You' to be released - in fact, I thought it would be the album's best/only chance at another hit. I'm much less into love song ballads now than then though, and my main thought is that it sounds very 'A Star Is Born' to me. At least until it gets louder towards the end; didn't expect the instrumentation to be different to 'Dope'.
