Exactly it only happens for 2-3 weeks so it's fine by me.

Makes a change to ye usual chart.

At any rate if other songs become big at Xmas we will see that evolve as years go by which will be interesting.

agree, no problem either, also it's what's people have been streaming and buying so should be reflected in the charts

shouldn't be in a separate old xmas chart

- Will Torn by Ava Max become a sleeper hit?

- Will Dance Monkey end up being the biggest-selling single of 2019?

- Will All I Want For Christmas Is You be this year's Christmas Number One (unless ACR prevents this from happening)?

Anyway...

- Will AIWFCIY will finally be a Christmas #1? Will a special campaigning be made for its 25th anniversary? No

- Or instead will Last Christmas finally be a Christmas #1, given its 35th anniversary and the release of the movie of the same name? No

- Will there be more than 25 Christmas songs in the top 40 Christmas chart? Yes [not on the 'Christmas chart', but on the chart afterwards that includes Christmas Day streaming] (unless the OCC make a rule change before Christmas, but I don't think this will happen)

- Will Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer (40th anniversary this year) this year finally chart in the UK? No

- Will Adele/Rihanna/Sia release anything? Yes/No/No (I think Adele is basically confirmed for November? though always the possibility of her pushing back but there's no way she'll not do a Q4 release)

- Will another unknown-ish Whitney Houston have a new treatment by Kygo or another producer dujour? Not for at least another year

- Does Ed Sheeran have a trick on his sleeve concerning the Christmas chart? Probably

- Could Billie Eilish/Khalid's Lovely get a new push? (X-Factor or likewise) No

- Will the X-Factor All Stars winner single have some kind of chart impact? Low top 10 at most

- Could there be a Band Aid-ish all-star charity single for the environment or other cause? Probably not

- Or just another boring collective choir cover? There always is at least one but can't see any being a #1 contender (except for in the iTunes chart)

- Will Torn by Ava Max become a sleeper hit? No

- Will Dance Monkey end up being the biggest-selling single of 2019? No [someone You Loved easily has this]

Don't underestimate the power of Mariah. Her Merry Christmas 25th anniversary release features not 1 but 4 versions of AIWFCIY, including the never before heard 1994 live version at The Cathedral Of St. John The Divine. Her streams are going to be up and she has the benefit of an additional day, unlike last year. She's also releasing special physical editions of the single.

There are also reports of her staring in a Christmas advert for Walkers, but that has yet to be officially confirmed.

I don't see how Mariah or Wham won't be #1? If OCC somehow don't mysteriously "lose" 75% of their streams, they should do 70k at least and it's not easy these days for a new song to do those numbers.
People have been certain Mariah will get the #1 'this time' each of the last few years and so far something has always stopped it. I think she will get there this time barring the OCC outright deciding to ban Christmas songs from the chart but you never know ~

I think this is All I Want For Christmas's last ever chance to be number 1 this year, the 25th anniversary plans will never be topped.

If they had any brains they would ask it to be reset for this season, but doubt they care about uk chart rules!
Well it's over 3 years old and has already been a hit so I think asking for a reset might be hard work (it's not the same case as Good As Hell which hasn't been a hit before now). However, the 25th anniversary physicals certainly should count as active promotion so this is its only real chance for a reset I'd say!
So if its over 3 years old it cant go on SCR? Or only if its being 'actively promoted' again?

Yes, this is why all the Christmas songs last year were on ACR and why Mariah lost #1 by 152 copies to Ava Max, when in reality she'd done pretty much double Ava.

Thanks wasn't 100% certain of the rules. They are so convoluted now.
Mariah could do it but because of the chart rules introduced last year only half of her streams will actually count.

despite that last year she almost beat Ava Max to the number one (she’s have been number one very easily otherwise)

But her record company could choose to officially repromote it, allowing full stream countage.

what about Last Xmas? cos with the movie coming out, sure they could also ask for a reset
They've already been promoting it what with Ridgleys book being out and all!
it's not only that, the whole movie is based on the Last Xmas lyrics and there is gonna be a soundtrack released, a sorta George Michael greatest hits in disguise, also with a new GM song...
Well Bohemian Rhapsody didn't get a reset with the film of the same name so I expect this will be much the same as that.
Recent-ish in Santa Tell Me, One More Sleep and Santa’s Coming For Us

...and Kelly Clarksons wonderful 'Underneath the Tree' (UK #30)
