It wasn't a joke. The English are determining the faith of another nation by silencing them.

It may be another nation but is part of the United Kingdom. We leave and they have to leave. We're not 4 separate nations. We are the UNITED Kingdom.

Yet they wanted something completely opposite of what you wanted? Isn't that undermining the democratic right of Scotland, a democratic nation?

Why deny them the right to determine their own faith by a referendum? I mean you were so keen on democracy and the majority when it come to brexit?

So you don’t think opposition parties should be allowed to propose amendments?

That's not what Chris said.

Besides, we've had endless opposition amendments on Brexit for the past 3.5 years. The only difference now is that the gov't doesn't have to fight it's own backbenchers as well as the opposition, to reject them.

Well he did state that they shouldnt state their opinions because "we are sick of it". When the basis of democracy is different opinions and debating about them.

This is why I hate this 1 party thing y'all and the US got going on. 1 majority has the "right" to speak for the whole nation, whoslt they ain't even representing 50% of the people in most cases

"Boris said so, it must be true".

Give me strength.

No but Michael and others here and elsewhere seem to think that the 27 EU countries will be our enemies after 31st. They won't at all. They're our closest geologically so we'll still be friends. Just not virtually ruled by them and their silly regulations.

Maybe there should have been no country or regional or constituency results revealed at all and just one result for the whole 4 countries. Then we wouldn't know who wanted leave or remain.

We all know their views on Brexit and their view on another independence referendum. We've heard it until we're sick to the back teeth of hearing it.

You might be sick of it but they won't go away...

But apparently the 2014 vote ended the independence discussion for a generation then the English MPs go and do something that's massively divisive.

Yes one that's dominated by English MPs voting in their own interests...how's that a UNITED Kingdom, as ever I don't want to be part of that. The celts and the Anglo saxons will never see eye to eye!

Geologically?

OMG they had a referendum in 2014 and voted to stay part of the UK. One a generation is fair enough, in say 10-15 years time. They won't get one under Boris.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are the English's closest geographical neighbours so they'll still be friends when the union is broken up, just not virtually ruled by us and our silly self-destructive tendencies.

I also enjoy the idea that less information should be available to the public.

I'm talking about the UK's closest neighbours.

At least the Scots couldn't accuse us of forcing them out then if the result was just announced 52-48 leave for the whole UK.

my point is that the English (and ostensibly British) government in the Commons isn't inherently better than European rule, or devolved rule or local rule for that matter.

If we pull out of one level above us then the Scots should be well within their rights to pull out one level above them if they don't agree.

and the other part is that if we truly are still going to be friends with the Europeans, why are we requiring many of our cross-border deals (like say, Erasmus) to fundamentally change? why are we killing easy opportunities for millions of people with freedom of movement - both ways?

Maybe there should have been no country or regional or constituency results revealed at all and just one result for the whole 4 countries. Then we wouldn't know who wanted leave or remain.

Yes, let's close our eyes to the problem, that'll fix it!!!

Yes, they had one. Under the impression that they would stay in the EU (cause Spain and the UK would defo veto an application to join the EU by scotland). Now that the UK is leaving, Scotland should at least get the chance to decide their own faith

Silly regulations like worker and human rights and safety...

Um yes they can. 52% is not an unassailable massive super majority. 27% ans 30% youth support for major change??? Yeaaah noooo.
