One of the best, most action-packed dry races I've ever watched. Certainly set a precedent for that classic F1 season!

Was that Mexico race the one with the ballsy Mansell overtake?

Yes it was.

It's all too easily forgotten just how bloody good Mansell was. I really disliked him back in those days but I always respected his ability. He had to wait far too long for his championship but he really earned it.
Deserved it in 86 no question. Doesn't he still have the record for best pole ratio in a single season too in 92?

Agreed.

And yes 14/16 races although, and no disrespect to him is implied, but no other car could compete for pace, reliability and control. Even Senna only out qualified him once that year and that was when Nigel was apparently stressed by his contract talks failing.

Some cracking stuff there -

Damon Hill's moment of greatness, Mansell's feint on Piquet, Senna's stunning yet fruitless drive in Japan and Hakkinen's utterly jaw dropping move on Schumacher. One I still consider the best I've ever seen.

That Euro GP was beyond ridiculous. It was as if nobody wanted to win.

Senna was robbed whilst he announced himself on the big stage but it was Stefan Bellof who was best on the day.

Who have guessed on that day the Vettel would win 4 titles in a row?

Europe 1999 yes that was a crazy race and also Diniz's barrel roll and then Badoer crying after retiring with a broken engine from fourth place.
Italy 2008 remains the biggest shock in a single F1 race since I started avidly following the sport (2003). It would be almost the equivalent of say, Haas winning a race last year!
