I fricking hate this story so fricking much. I do not give two shits that this arsehole can't open his precious bank account cos he's only wealthy rather than ridiculously wealthy, and while it does seem that yes, the CEO and the BBC definitely made a mistake spreading confidential information, because of his whining and need for attention after failing as a politician, this utter non story has been dragged out so so much longer than it should've been and yet another convenient distraction for the Tories and the right wing media to take the focus away from their failings and the fact we've just experienced the hottest month on record ever for yet another year. Some people have no money to even to open a bank account and yet actual parliament time and rolling coverage is spent discussing this shit and expecting us to care about this poor little rich person being discriminated against :manson:

It makes me livid, I don't know if it's just the Titanic story and the government clearly trying to take focus away from them so much being fresh in my mind, but it's become more transparent than ever of the sheer inequality we are living under when throughout some of the worst crises we are living through, rich people's woes are the only thing worth reporting on.

absolutely all of this, especially trying to sell it as a 'this could happen to you' story when both Farage's PEP status and his lack of wealth in a wealth-exclusive bank account are highly relevant factors.

planet's on fire, people can't eat and this is in the headlines. And it leads into other stories that are probably only tangentially related like Gina Miller's political party account being closed this morning.

Throwing my hand in as totally baffled by the bank story too.

Firstly it seems like a private matter, and secondly, perhaps some kind of revenge trap? Like the story of why was the bank account closed was literally headline news and everyone was clamouring for an answer, then a soon as they gave one it was "ooooooh, can't be saying that! You broke confidentiality you naughty bank!"

More evidence of Farage being the most effective political operator in the country, few others are quite so canny as being able to bring down the leadership of one of the biggest banks in the country over a customer service dispute.
