Sky saying Trump can use his Presidential Executive powers to stop an extradition but let's hope he doesn't do that. Hope we all agree that she shouldn't get away with this. Let's hope we can get her back. A US woman will be charged with causing the death of teenage motorcyclist Harry Dunn by dangerous driving. Mr Dunn, 19, died in a road crash in Northamptonshire in August that led to suspect Anne Sacoolas leaving for the US under diplomatic immunity. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it had started extradition proceedings through the Home Office. The US State Department said it did not believe the decision was "a helpful development". Yes Michael that's exactly what Sky's legal correspondent says, that Trump will probably block it, as he can block any extradition as President, but they're also saying would that look good in an election year, letting her get off scot free? Yes I agree and she should come over here voluntarily now and hand herself in at a police station and face the music. It was an accident as she was on the wrong side of the road. No-one's saying she meant to kill him so it's manslaughter. Her lawyers will oppose extradition on the grounds that she won't get a fair trial now due to all the publicity. December 21, 20195 yr IMO the whole concept of diplomatic immunity is decidedly iffy. The concept is perfectly reasonable. It is to allow diplomats to perform their job without interference from repressive regimes. However, its sweeping nature (to avoid endless discussions about what is covered and what is not) allows people to avoid perfectly reasonable laws and means that countries like the US owe millions of pounds in unpaid parking fines and the London congestion charge.
