Sofia Kenin fulfilled her potential by winning a first Grand Slam title with victory over Spain's Garbine Muguruza at the Australian Open.

Kenin won 4-6 6-2 6-2 against two-time major winner Muguruza in Melbourne.

Muguruza was fantastic in the first set, much better than Kenin

but Kenin dominated from the 2nd on and took it to her territory (long rallies)

with better servin, I reckon Muguruza would have won but alas...

so much talk about Coco and think Kenin is the new American to watch

Garbine won but a fabulous 2nd set. Kim's due to play Indian Wells next and hopefully gets a kind draw.

I watched the Muguruza-Clijsters game and was great

Muguruza's serve saved her but wasn't expecting Clijsters to be so good

on the other hand, very disappointed at Kenin, that's what I hate about women's tennis,

she wins the AU Open, next tournament she loses on the 1st round

that would never happen to Djokovik or Federer

Andy Murray could return to the tour as early as next month, but admits there is also a real possibility he may need a further operation.

The Scot has not played since November because of a bruise on his pelvic bone.

The former world number one says the last few months have been "unbelievably complex, challenging and difficult".

Murray, 32, now believes his lack of progress is caused by a common side effect of the hip resurfacing operation he had in January 2019.

The French Open has been moved to September and October as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The event at Roland Garros was due to be played from 24 May to 7 June, but instead will take place between 20 September and 4 October.

That means it will begin just one week after the completion of the US Open in New York.

All professional tennis across the world is currently suspended until at least 20 April.

The French Open is usually the second Grand Slam tournament of the year, after the Australian Open, and the finale of the clay court part of the season.

It will now be the final major of the year, and the new dates clash with a number of other events, including the Laver Cup, an annual men's event between a team from Europe and a team representing the rest of the world.

The suspension of the professional tennis tours because of coronavirus has been extended to 7 June, ruling out the entire clay-court season.

The ATP and WTA Tours were already off until 27 April and 2 May respectively.

The extension covers joint tournaments in Madrid and Rome, plus women's events in Strasbourg and Rabat and men's events in Munich, Estoril, Geneva and Lyon.

All men's and women's rankings have been frozen until further notice.
