First post updated. Our Song is back to 0 weeks of decline so it should be good for another 3 top 40 weeks!

34 weeks have elapsed since Lights Up and it's sold roughly 76,802, so that's 2259 copies a week roughly.

The last update we had for One Thing was a whole six years ago, and was sales only, when it was on 230,000. It's taken quite a while to reach gold so I'm not sure it's selling very quickly anyway but it's good to have a more up to date figure nonetheless.

Now all bar two of their singles are at least gold! Just Gotta Be You and Midnight Memories to go  (and Wishing on a Star but we can ignore that)

Elsewhere, Watermelon Sugar will cross 1.5m next week!! Our Song will be silver then too.

Also this week, Watermelon Sugar becomes the first 1D related single to cross 1.5m (that we know of - WMYB hasn't had an update in over a year so we don't really know what that's on these days).

I mean to sell 270k in 6 years is certainly more than it ever would have done pre-streaming and is more than most acts can "sell." Comparison being Emma's what took you so long was on 240k on initial release and is still not at 300k yet over 20 years later.

While I rolled my eyes a bit at it going "gold" I'm kind of pleased as its one of the few group songs I do really like.

It's all relative to be fair - 1D were around just as streaming was taking off and their initial young fanbase are now the people who primarily use streaming services. Not to mention they had huge international success, accelerated by social media, and many Spotify playlists are geared towards the US, hence why a song like One Thing can add a lot more than Emma Bunton's solo music, considering it was actually a reasonable hit over there.

Relatively speaking, One Thing is selling rather slowly - most other 1D singles are selling at a much faster pace!

I mean, yes, they're still considered to be "chart sales" - it's just a term even if the meaning's changed somewhat :P

Our Song moves to ACR this week, it did well to get 13 weeks top 40! Only Slow Hands spent longer there out of Niall's solo music (15 weeks).
