Updated! With a sixth week in the top 10, Watermelon Sugar passes Adore You's tally. It's just one week shy of Sign of the Times!

Watermelon Sugar's tied History's 19 weeks top 40! It's also Harry's third platinum single.

We also have a new tally for What Makes You Beautiful! It was on 1,418,000 in mid June, so in the ~7 weeks since then, it's sold 22,300 to make it to 1,440,300. That's 3.2k a week on average, though if we deduct the 5.7k it sold this week as it's a higher than usual tally thanks to the anniversary, that'd be 2.8k a week, which is more in line with what I posted on the previous page.

Updated! Falling sadly vacates the top 100, but we have a new peak for Watermelon Sugar - it's the first group or solo single to peak at #4 as things stand!

Watermelon Sugar also matches Sign of the Times' top 10 weeks, so it's guaranteed to become Harry's longest runner in the top 10. It's also matched WMYB's top 40 weeks, so it's now joint second only behind Adore You. It'll take 2nd place outright very easily of course - it's pretty much guaranteed to get a minimum of 23 before ACR (and at this rate, it'd stay top 40 on ACR too), so Adore You's record isn't safe!

Updated for the past 2 weeks. Watermelon Sugar's passed 700k, and with 4 weeks in the top 5, it's become his longest-running top 5 hit. As for top 10 weeks, it's Harry's outright longest, and the joint third-longest running 1D top 10 hit.

Most Top 10 Weeks

11 Dusk Till Dawn

10 Story of My Life

09 Strip That Down

09 Watermelon Sugar *

It also takes second place for most top 40 weeks out of all 1D hits too.

Most Top 40 Weeks

27 Adore You

22 Watermelon Sugar *

At least 2 more weeks before it goes to ACR, so I think it can tie Dusk Till Dawn's top 10 weeks but will need to increase (even a slight amount) either this week or next if it wants to take the record. As for top 40 weeks, even going to ACR won't push it out of the top 40 yet, so lasting 6 more weeks to take the outright record doesn't seem impossible at all!

Elsewhere, Adore You's over 800k and Falling will pass 500k next week.

Strip That Down having the 3rd highest total of weeks in the top 10 is a hate crime

Updated. Watermelon Sugar scores a 10th week top 10, bringing it tied with Story of My Life in second place for most weeks top 10. One more to tie Dusk Till Dawn in first - and incidentally, at this rate, it only has one more week on SCR too, so the record looks unlikely.

It's on week 23 in the top 40 though, just 4 more to match Adore You - even on ACR that still feels achievable!

Falling's passed 500k as well this week.

Updated! Watermelon Sugar matches Dusk Till Dawn's record for top 10 weeks but it's off to ACR now so it won't be taking the outright record sadly. It's just 3 weeks off matching Adore You's top 40 weeks record though, so that's still in sight!

Watermelon Sugar should overtake Adore You's total within weeks too!

Updated! Watermelon Sugar ends its top 10 run now it's on ACR of course but still logs a 25th week top 40, now only 2 weeks behind Adore You's 27.

Watermelon Sugar is over 800k, and is looking to overtake Adore You's total sales potentially as soon as next week, or at the latest a week later.

Updated! Watermelon Sugar has now outsold Adore You, which has sadly ended its top 100 run after a huge 40 weeks.

Looking almost nailed on now that Watermelon will take the top 40 weeks record! :D

Updated! Watermelon Sugar matches Adore You's 27 weeks top 40, will definitely claim the record next week :D

Falling re-enters the top 100 as well this week, a rare occasion of it being higher than Adore You.

Updated! It's finally happened, Watermelon Sugar is the longest-running One Direction-related top 40 hit. It rises one place to spend its 28th week top 40 at #28 :magic: next week it'll cross 900k too!

Updated! Watermelon Sugar is now over 900k, will be the first 1D single to hit 30 weeks top 40 this week :D

Also added Zayn's Better which I forgot to include last week! His first charting song in over a year.

  • Author

Also forgot to add that Back to You has gone platinum! That's 142 weeks to sell 200k, so it manages about 1.4k a week. Here's where it slots in among some other predictions I made before!

Will post a full update this weekend but Music Week have posted an article with some sales!!

Harry Styles has reached another UK chart milestone as Fine Line turns platinum.

A total of 3,771 sales this week brings the album’s tally to 300,634, according to the Official Charts Company. Of this week’s total, 3,034 came from streams, with 681 physical units sold and 56 downloads

Fine Line followed the singer’s self-titled No.1 debut album from 2017, and peaked at No.3 upon release last December.

Back then, in a special cover story, Styles told us the album had him feeling “The most excited I’ve ever been”. Now, Fine Line has eclipsed the sales figure of its predecessor, which isn’t far behind on 298,653.

Harry Styles was due to tour the world this year, and with dates postponed Columbia – which scooped the Artist Marketing Campaign trophy at the Music Week Awards 2020 – leant on the album’s singles to boost the campaign.

Watermelon Sugar, a mainstay on the UK airplay chart, has a singles chart peak of No.4 and a sales figure of 936,260. Its video has 129 million views on YouTube.

Styles has recently been on Italy’s Amalfi Coast, where he is reportedly filming the video for the record’s next single, strongly rumoured to be Fine Line’s opening track Golden. Styles recently announced the release of a special edition Fine Line vinyl box set.

Also from the record, Adore You peaked at No.7 and has 874,548 sales. Falling hit No.15 and has 567,550, while intro track Lights Up has 501,181.

Music Week recently caught up with team Columbia on what’s next for Styles, read that interview here. Click here to revisit our cover story, where Styles talks about the album alongside Sony Music Group CEO Rob Stringer and Full Stop Management's Jeffrey Azoff.

First figure we've had for Lights Up in a while! Looks like it'll make platinum in the not too distant future :D

Updated! Lights Up took 24 weeks to sell ~100k. Another 24 weeks takes us to early April, for its platinum certification!

Watermelon Sugar spends a 30th week top 40 too :cheer:

Updated! Not much to say this week, business as usual for the Harry singles, Watermelon Sugar now just a few weeks away from one million.
  • Author

Updated! Golden debuts at #44 this week, its sales just over 152,000 in total.

Watermelon Sugar's overtaken the last known total for Sign of the Times, though I expect the latter is now a "millionaire" but I don't have a figure to confirm that!

Thanks to the brilliant @TheHSCharts on Twitter (go follow them guys!), I've been directed to a Music Week article from 26th October which contains some Harry sales *.*

Harry Styles’ debut album has turned platinum in the UK, weeks after its follow-up Fine Line passed the same milestone.

Harry Styles was released in 2017 on Columbia, marking the start of the One Direction star’s solo career. Music Week broke the news that Fine Line went platinum earlier this month, and his debut has now followed suit.

It comes amidst a flurry of activity for Styles, who is trending on Twitter thanks to today’s release of the video for Fine Line opener Golden, directed by Ben and Gabe Turner and filmed on Italy’s Amalfi Coast.

Styles' debut now has 300,216 sales in the UK, according to the Official Charts Company. Its biggest single, Sign Of The Times, has 1,036,700 sales and is the singer’s first million-seller in the UK. Sweet Creature has 343,008, Kiwi has 255,992 and Two Ghosts has 198,256.

Styles is inching towards a million sales for Watermelon Sugar, his second-biggest selling UK single. The Fine Line track has 955,647 sales.

Golden is now expected to surge following the video’s release. Fans had been waiting, and 1,034,092 were tuning in live on YouTube as the premiere came to a close.

Back in 2019, when Styles starred on the cover of Music Week, he told us that Fine Line was his most honest work yet.

“You can write as honestly as you want and then only at the end do you have to decide if something is too much or if you feel comfortable saying it,” he said. “By the time you get to the end, I never want to pull it back or dilute it or anything. I’m proud of the album.”

Read about the making of Fine Line in our interview with star songwriter Tom Hull here. Click here to revisit our cover story, where Styles talks about the album alongside Sony Music Group CEO Rob Stringer and Full Stop Management's Jeffrey Azoff.

So this isn't up to the most recent chart, but the chart before that. Two Ghosts hasn't gone silver yet so its weekly sales must be <1,744, but it'll probably be there before long!

The last Sign of the Times total was 971,000 as of mid-June this year. ~19 weeks have elapsed since then, meaning it has sold about 3458 copies a week! About 58 weeks until it does double platinum, which will take us to December 2021 :D

Sweet Creature went silver on 8th Feb 2019, meaning it's selling ~1589 copies a week. It'll go gold in July 2021, and platinum in December 2023.

Kiwi went silver only on 3rd April 2020, giving it a weekly total of ~1866, meaning it's closing in on Sweet Creature slowly but surely. It should go gold in May 2022, and platinum in May 2024.

Two Ghosts, well, this is the first total we've had for it since June 2017  I'll provide an estimate when it goes silver.

Updated forecast of future certifications:
