Talking about Germany's love for Rob and viceversa: She's Madonna is at no. 9 in the download charts this week (was #14 the previous week).

She's Madonna climbs 16 places this week to #41 in the UK airplay chart. At least it is climbing. -_-

I can't be bothered to read the whole thread to see if it's been posted already, but this is currently #112 in the midweeks. It's out next week isn't it?

Yep, tbh It is not suprising. Firstly it has got no promo therefor most fans don't even know it is available, secondly his fans are not the type that will download a song they most likley already have, and are not the downloading type in general. More the physical buyers, but now there is no B-sides on the single either so yet another reason why many won't purchase it. Oh and the vid is very off-putting to many people so basically it seems the whole single release in general was pointless as everything about the release is f***ed up. <_< EMI are never going to learn really, which is why they are losing so much money

Oh well, I hope it goes top 20 anyway, but won't be at all suprised if it is'nt. I will just be happy that it is the 2nd post popular track in Europe

I was scared that it was released this week when I saw it :o  I thought, a Robbie single missing the entire chart?!

It could still miss the Top 40 though, with downloads as important as they are. Of course, I hope it makes Top 20 ^_^

Scotty

I dont think EMI bothered at all with the album - do you think that noses were our of joint because of Rob's other committments to T/Mobile & Sony Erricsson - according to Tim Clark in The Guardian yesterday, EMI were not at all happy with what other deals IE Music were doing with Rob ........ There is just something mighty suspicious in connection with the whole album & promotion or lack of promotion thereof...... I mean again tonight I have seent JT's Sexyback advertised in its full glory on the TV so what is going on with Rudebox.... believe it or not it has actually improved its placing this week in the MP3 download charts... I dont know what is going on.... but something smells rotten in the State of Denmark... if you get my drift. I am buying the singles because I collect the RW singles anyway ... but on any other occasion I would be mighty P****D off & wouldn't bother.....

For whatever reason, EMI are clearly not interested in doing anything for the album or for Rob. I would have hoped there would be promotion of some sort for She's Madonna, an advert anything would be nice at this point seeing as Rob is unavailable. They couldn't pull the single because it was set into motion before Rob went into rehab, I just hope they don't release anything after this. Its absolutely pointless and makes the album and Rob look very bad and gives the press more ammunition as if they don't already have any as it is.

Considering there's absolutely no promotion, the video is a big turn off for alot of people, there are no bsides and Rob's fans have not yet embraced downloading, I'd be really happy if it made top 40. Top 20 and I'll be ecstatic

I've got mine on preorder from Amazon and I know that doesn't count toward the chart. Does anyone know if buying off RW.com would count towards the charts ?? or where else online it would count for something ? I have no choice but to order off the net and its really frustrating that none of it counts towards the charts :(

Bought it myself www.7digital.com ...I purchased it throught RW site via the link I just outlined. I think if its bought through that site that it is not available until March 5th & you can download it that day. They must want all downloads the same week to have an impact. See can you find the www.7digital.com anywhere on the official site & go from there.

Ok

TessaT

RF4L - I'm not sure what the situation is with charts. Many on-line sales do count for the charts, unless they are from sites that ship from outside the UK. Amazon does count, Amazon Jersey doesn't. However that is only if they are delivered to the UK (I think)- so Amazon (or any other site) won't count for UK charts if bought from USA. It is all VERY confusing.

That's exactly what I mean, its all very confusing and doesn't make much sense. If I purchase it from a UK distributor then it should count for sales in the UK no matter where its being delivered to.

TessaT thanks for the link, I'd rather buy it from there if it'll count for something even if it costs a bit more.

Scotty, everything you said about what EMI have done wrong again with this single is true.

But things are not very different in the rest of Europe, so how do you explain that She's Madonna is doing really well there ... ?

We have got no more promotion than you do but for one our radio stations love it which is a big advantage.

I don't mean to blame everything on the UK again, but let's face it - right now Rob is pretty much f***ed in this country :puke2:

Good point. I don't think it's a matter of the radio loving it, If he had've released this song a couple of years back I have no doubt it would get huge airplay. It is obviously just the feeling on him in the UK now, and sadly because of this, a brilliant song like She's Madonna is going to possibly chart lower than Sin Sin Sin. Just really does go to show, high chart placings do not at all equal quality. <_<

I said a while ago that Robbie needs to go away for a year (or even two), then come back with a new release (not Swing). I'm not saying do it as a "comeback", but the UK public is bombarded with EVERYTHING Robbie, every move he makes, every poop he takes (new lyrics for The Police! ha!) and people are sick of him! They need to get him out of their minds, then when he comes back be reminded of how great he is!

Like someone said, most artists put a year or two in between their releases. It's just standard practice. And I honestly think that Robbie has done this to himself because he gets so bored so quick with his own stuff. He was tired of IC by the time the tour started, which I'm sure is why he recorded Rudebox so quick and he was so anxious to get it released. He was ready to move onto something new. I can't imagine EMI pressuring him to release something new while he was promoting the already released cd. They know it would confuse the consumer. Which it did, and it turned the casual fan off.

I don't know...I'm rambling. I may be completely off base. Do I make any sense??

Yes you do Dazzel  I agree with you completelly. ^_^

But he has to release Swing next and then i really do not know what will happen?
