December 15, 20204 yr Majority of Love Goes singles peaked at top 20, with three in the top 20, Diamonds is the 6th single and peaked at #11, much better then what they were doing in their last era. Upgrade in the singles, but an understable decline in the albums department. Edited December 15, 20204 yr by Yog
December 16, 20204 yr Not y’all downgrading them when love goes already has three certifications Singles Artists? I don’t think so, Sam has sold over 28M albums SPS with just three album releases. Edited December 16, 20204 yr by Yog
December 16, 20204 yr Not a singles artist at all, if the last singles did well it's cos the label spent lots of $$$$ is Spotify playlist payola, especially Diamonds (this is not a negative comment, it's actually what all labels should do) I think the album underperformed massively on week 1 but thats understandable cos Sam doesn't have the crazy fanbase that will buy 9 different vinyls and 7 different cassettes on week 1. And the masses buying CDs are a thing of the past, that's why you cannot compare this album vs. the last album. But then I have to admit I was expecting the album to do a 2-19-77-OUT but it didn't and it's holding up pretty well, showing they still can attract some random sales, although I'm not sure if they're doing well on physicals or if it's mostly streams cos the album includes all those old singles and they're doing a Mabel. I also think the last era was handled poorly by the label, they should totally have released much earlier and capitalised on the success of Promises/Dancing with a Stranger... but they're Capitol aka the worst label ever, who's also on Capitol? Katy Perry, so enough said...
December 16, 20204 yr Yeah, Capitol is an shit label but thankfully capitol got rid of an big wig and replaced him of someone who knows what their doing Sam’s can rebound from this before it gets to Katy Perry levels https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/larr...ol-music-group/
December 16, 20204 yr It’s not necessarily bad that he’s a singles artist at this stage of his career as that’ll continue to build his base!
December 16, 20204 yr as I said, don't think they are a single artist at all, they're totally an album artist problem is nobody is buying albums anymore... if you look at current album sales, then no one is an album seller
December 16, 20204 yr It’s not necessarily bad that he’s a singles artist at this stage of his career as that’ll continue to build his base! Exactly! They’re obviously still doing well in the albums, but from this point onwards I think they’ll do better on the singles than albums.

December 19, 20204 yr Back in the top 15, Diamonds has just left Spotify’s Today Top Hits, it would be very foolish to not drop another single
December 29, 20204 yr OT: is there a site publishing midweeks (other than the pretty awful Official Charts update - when they feel like updating it)?

December 29, 20204 yr 'When they feel like updating it'? It's updated the exact same time every week except when there are bank holidays lol ~ The midweeks outside of the First Look chart and the one the OCC posts each week are not meant to be public, they are either published in Music Week (requiring a subscription) or otherwise sent to people within the industry (and usually leaked).
February 16, 20214 yr That's a really good achievement! I totally didn't see it achieving gold when it was first released.
