November 18, 200618 yr Author 'when doves cry' was brilliant... everything else was c**p! :P i see that you are younger (by 5 weeks) then my youngest son and hes a t***! lol.
November 18, 200618 yr are you old enough to know who he is?....lol.. Yes I am, one of the biggest artists of the 80s, was a huge success with Purple Rain (26-odd consecutive weeks at number one in USA with that album) despite not achieving the same success over here, I find it unfortunate that his only number one over here came when he was past his creative peak, even though TMBGITW is a quality tune ^_^ He made his comeback with Musicology two years ago and had his first US #1 debut album with 3121 earlier this year

November 18, 200618 yr I know :( I just wish I had been alive for the excellence of Purple Rain and Sign ☮ The Times :(
November 19, 200618 yr Okay, you maybe could say he does seem a little odd, changing his name to a 'symbol' and the like  . Though I think you would find it hard to deny that musically he is a genius. I love his early stuff the most, Purple Rain and Diamonds & Pearls being my fave albums. This guy writes all his own songs, produces his own stuff. Also he never uses session musicians, every instrument on his records he plays himself. And he doesn't just limit himself to guitar, he plays quite a few instruments! As far as musical prodigies go I think hes up there with some of the best! :cheer: Edited November 19, 200618 yr by fiesta

November 20, 200618 yr Not a fan I'm afraid. My brother is a very big fan. Doesn't matter what age you are, he's 13, has every album and some on vinyl.
November 21, 200618 yr I think he had some great songs in the 80's, pre and post Purple Rain. But ever since the name change and the weird "Gold" album mid-90's, I haven't enjoyed his music very much. What truly baffles me is his image... to whom did he appeal in the 80's? He was just so ostentatiously SEXUAL but not particularly attractive... And also to add, dunno of Chappelle's Show is popular in the UK (it's a variety show) but if not, you have GOT to see Chappelle do Prince. It's HYSTERICAL... November 21, 200618 yr how was the gold album weird??? it was hes best album of the 90's. although i always prefered the new power generation, they had some brilliant albums, exodus was amazing, although about 12 tracks are just mindless scripted talk, or awnsar machine messages.
