May 17, 20205 yr Paolo Nutini & Miguel both all right and good to see them in the countdown. Like Chris Brown's music not as a person, not familiar with Thomas Dolby. Great to see Childish Gambino make the countdown along with legends like Roy Orbison and Cliff Richard. A 80s dude in Howard Jones. Shame about the sex offender Chuck Berry. He was sentenced to three years in prison in January 1962 for offenses under the Mann Act—he had transported a 14-year-old girl across state lines.
May 17, 20205 yr 'Stars' is a great album and there are a handful of other Simply Red songs I quite like (love their version of 'Night Nurse') but those aside I've never been a big fan of them. Plus he always comes across as a bit arrogant. Although I'm confused about why Mick Hucknall is eligible in this - he's never had a UK Top 40 single as a solo act? Edited May 17, 20205 yr by M4NGO
May 17, 20205 yr Author 'Stars' is a great album and there are a handful of other Simply Red songs I quite like (love their version of 'Night Nurse') but those aside I've never been a big fan of them. Plus he always comes across as a bit arrogant. Although I'm confused about why Mick Hucknall is eligible in this - he's never had a UK Top 40 single as a solo act? Although simply red were a band originally Hucknall has been the only member since 1997.
May 17, 20205 yr Shame about the sex offender Chuck Berry. God I've just read about that. :o what's more, I've just read a certain Starman also behaved similarly with underage girls. I do try to separate the artist from the music though unless a horrid personality and their personal life shines through the music like with R.Kelly whose sexual lyrics leave a sick taste in my mouth these days. :puke:

May 18, 20205 yr I thought it was likely my 30 pointer would be the first one to go. Just looking at the tie-break rules, shouldn't Peter Gabriel be placed above Lionel Richie and Jackie Wilson? They all received two votes so wouldn't my 30 points be enough to win the second tie-break?

May 19, 20205 yr Jon Bon Jovi would have got 14 points from me so would have finished a little higher. I overlooked Jason Donovan but I have to admit quite a few of his hits are guilty pleasures of mine. 'Nothing Can Divide Us', 'Another Night' and 'Sealed With A Kiss' I saw him play at a random festival a couple of years ago and he was still sounding pretty good! Edited May 19, 20205 yr by M4NGO
May 19, 20205 yr Forgot about Bon Jovi but would probably rate them high in a group rate over this tbh. Still got most of mine left in the top 79.
May 19, 20205 yr Catching up on posts here but happy Chris Brown managed some other voters. He’s another one who it can be hard to separate crimes / his personality over his music but he’s definitely very talented as a music artist / a performer.
May 19, 20205 yr Jason donovan so much higher than I thought as I expected myself to be his only voter, I still really like most of his singles, while too many broken his hearts is probably his best known I also love RSVP and the relatively unknown mission of love.
