November 20, 200618 yr That aint the only reason JJN, there's a certain 'video' she shot which propelled her into totally undeserved fame...... <_< So in her case, in was the certain thing in the certain whole... But still, the video wouldn´t make her famous if she wasn´t such a rich b**ch. Edited November 20, 200618 yr by Janet Jackson´s Nipple
November 20, 200618 yr About the weddings, I couldn't let photographers and people in at my wedding, to end up in some magazine like Heat. Your wedding day should be private and just for family and friends, not the public. Celebs get paid to do it, but they have enough money anyway.
November 21, 200618 yr Personally, I am into celeb culture ... it interests me ... and do read OK and heat. Maybe I'm shallow, maybe I'm materialistic ... whatever ... it's not something I or any of the other 546,000 people who read heat have to defend to anyone who doesn't. [although, i have to say, i'm going off heat ... they tend to fill it up with any old c**p about big brother stars from 5 years ago, that no-ones bothered about. i'm more interested in "celebrity" culture involving people who've earned status.] If you don't wanna know about it, don't read it. Easy life! Edited November 21, 200618 yr by Andrewy
November 21, 200618 yr It's hard not to know about stuff like Big Brother though. I don't even watch it but I knew who was in it. They're even in the newspapers, which should be actual proper news.
November 21, 200618 yr Sorry, but I disagree. I couldn't have any less interest in politics ... but I manage to avoid reading about it just fine ... since I moved to Uni 2 months ago I haven't read a word of politics ... if it bothers people as much as it appears to, they'll avoid it quite easily. It depends which papers you read ... obviously The Sun etc will have info about Big Brother ... it's much less likely to find gossip about Big Bro, but more likely to find academic debates about it, which people will find more interesting. If you want to avoid it that badly, you can.
November 21, 200618 yr Author ... since I moved to Uni 2 months ago I haven't read a word of politics ... am i the only one to find this statement disturbing?
November 21, 200618 yr In actual fact, the reason isn't that I'm not interested, but that I haven't had time. It just bores me *shrug* and I've barely got time to read about the things that do interest me, let alone stuff that doesn't Edited November 21, 200618 yr by Andrewy
November 21, 200618 yr Author In actual fact, the reason isn't that I'm not interested, but that I haven't had time. It just bores me *shrug* and I've barely got time to read about the things that do interest me, let alone stuff that doesn't unfortunately life doesnt work like that... politics effects everything you do, everything. like it or not (and i dont like it either) as a responsable adult its up to you to have your say and influence the world that you live in.
November 21, 200618 yr This is sort of off topic, but ... I agree ... it's discussing politics with others that puts me off it so much ... I'm more than happy to be an informed voter etc [i'm not particularly interested in it, but can be when I need to be] ... but it seems that everytime in the past I've had an opinion on a political idea, there have been 20 people there to tell me I'm wrong, so tend not to read about it, or discuss it, as all I ever seem to hear is that what I think isn't right. It could just be bad personal experience ... but I've just not got the best track-record with politics, so tend to stay where I'm better aquainted.

If you dont engage with the process then you cant change anything or make your voice heard.... I'm afraid politics affects everything you do in your daily life, it aint just about voting every four years, or the big stuff you hear about on the news, far from it - Politics affects the price of your weekly shopping, the price of your utility bills, the public transport that takes you to work in the morning (or the roads system in general if you drive..), if you're a sports fan - look at the sh!tstorm that's brewing over the 2012 Olympics... Politics.... Even your "Celeb Culture" is putting across a certain political ideology... Personally, I think the "Celeb Culture" is a piece of rancid sh!t which appeals to the worst aspects of human nature... It's latest extreme being the recent farrago surrounding OJ Simpson's book and Fox programme.... And, yes, you can lay the blame for this ultimately at the door of rags like "Heat" and the Tabloid obsession with celebrity.. Murdoch owns The Sun, he owns the network that was going to broadcast Simpson's interview and he owns the publishing house that published the book, so you can see how all this inter-relates.... But also, we should blame ourselves for being a party to it by our endless consumption of such utterly trite material...
November 24, 200618 yr What I hate more than celebrity culture is the celebrity t**** who moan about hating celebrity culture. Jude Law wouldn't even be famous if it wasn't for celebrity culture and yet he sits on parkinson I think it was, going "Oh no I really don't like this celebrity culture we have these days". Pretentious cnut! <_<

Pretentious cnut! <_< Coming from someone like Ray Winstone, Alan Rickman or Gary Oldman, none of whom have ever really courted the media, I could buy the criticism (because those guys seriously grafted to perfect their craft); but coming from a tw@t like Jude Law, it is totally hypocritical.. I cant think of a bigger media whore in the whole of the Brit acting world, he more than really ANY Brit actor has benefitted a great deal from 'Celeb Culture' and being in Gossip pages....
November 24, 200618 yr I don't get what all the fuss is about either to be perfectly honest. I'm more of a person who likes to think about my own life and where mine is going, not some tw@t whos been around the block a few times and is getting married yet AGAIN. I've never understood what the big deal is with peoples private lives.
